I'm OK with males campaigning for an end to violence against women and girls, I'm just not sure a male is the best choice by the UN as an advocate. seems a little white knighty/patronising, no? Why can't women campaign for women on this issue?

That's the thing isnt it. I mean they wont care at all. It's all just validation they were chosen for a female based campaign. That's all its about for them. Meanwhile a hair cut and a pair of trousers has never ever stopped a woman or girl being harassed or raped or abused

Presumably the UN feels it is doing girls useful service in reminding them that there if they achieve something in sport, banking, the UN etc, they run the risk of a male self IDing as a woman and taking their place.

Because women like Pips, Rache, or Munro’s will always be preferred.

This is a potentially important appointment. If true (and I say if because MB has announced other appointments that were not entirely based in fact) then I wonder what The qualifications were for the role and what MB brings?

Given that it is widely acknowledged that they called a lesbian a ‘barren hairy dyke’.

Given that they were sacked from a leading beauty brand for their comments in relation to ‘all white people are racist’.

Given that they were let go from their last ambassador role for encouraging young and vulnerable people to contact them privately and thus breaching safeguarding criteria.

Given they are well known for appearing in glamour shots for publications known to objectify women’s bodies. While telling women they should not talk about their bodies when campaigning for their rights.

To keep getting handed such spectacular positions representing vulnerable people is quite an achievement.

They have since changed the tweet, but yes the first one featured FGM. With Munroe Bergdorf. Who told women to stop talking about their vaginas.

Trans = removal of healthy breast tissue.

In other cultures this is breast ironing.

It makes no difference as to whether they want it or not, it's the removal of healthy breast tissue to fit in / deal with gendered issues/ oppression. Some might say to avoid abuse by men.

How can a trans advocate stand for stopping FGM? Given fgm is about cultural gendered oppression due to biological sex.
