I could not believe what I was hearing either when I heard this earlier. It was WONDERFUL.

What happened at the BBC which caused that to slip through the net?

Radfempirate · 29/11/2019 23:39

It's beautiful!

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2019 01:34

That was amazing. Thank you Hannah.

The tide has turned all right.

Ereshkigal · 30/11/2019 02:00

Wow. That was amazing.

Ereshkigal · 30/11/2019 02:02

I liked how she completely swerved past the 'third wave' sex pos libfems and focussed on the actual waves of actual proper feminism.

The ones with dangerous meetings.

Yes, exactly.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 30/11/2019 07:33

just bumping this for the weekend crowd. it really is worth a listen

notnowdennis · 30/11/2019 08:25

Loved it!

Datun · 30/11/2019 08:33

That was excellent. All the more powerful for its slight air of understatement.

And the theme of the men's utter determination to shut women up was chilling. And oh so recognisable.

Spittle indeed.

TimeLady · 30/11/2019 08:39

A new Controller was appointed to Radio 4 in July. I wonder if that's why we're seeing a less one-sided viewpoint?

HumberHellraiser · 30/11/2019 08:54

Wow! thank you Hannah!
Powerful.

motorcyclenumptiness · 30/11/2019 09:11

Amazing - beautifully written and delivered. Thanks for the heads-up, op.

MsMcWibble · 30/11/2019 09:59

I loved the bit about 'no debate' - how they even had a debate about moving the TV, but weren't supposed to discuss the redefinition of 'women'.

LangCleg · 30/11/2019 10:41

How long is it available for?

Can we save it for future recommendations? Will Hannah have a copy that we will be able to share?

nauticant · 30/11/2019 10:45

From the webpage:

Released On: 29 Nov 2019
Available for 29 days

After that it might be gone with maybe occasional revivals on 4Extra.

StillWeRise · 30/11/2019 17:26

I've suggested it for pick of the week

Helmetbymidnight · 30/11/2019 17:42

Dh heard this and told me I had to listen to it, I'd love it.

I didn't believe him. Grin

Will def try to catch it on I-player.

nauticant · 30/11/2019 17:55

Believe your husband.

This might be the only time I write those words.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/11/2019 18:40

i just listened- great stuff. brilliant to hear the parallels with past struggles spelled out explicitly like that. brilliant to hear the modern day struggle laid out like that- it shouldnt be 'brave' or 'unusual' to have this kind of drama but this is where we are and that was both.

SpringFan · 30/11/2019 19:04

I've nominated for POTW too.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 30/11/2019 20:32

Crikey.

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 30/11/2019 20:38

DH heard this yesterday when out in his lorry...told me about it when he woke up this morning ( he gets in late)

He understands it and hopes others do too...

cwg1 · 30/11/2019 21:21

I'm getting excited now - everything crossed that FWR power gets it onto Pick of the Week.

We can but wish. The tide may be turning but I wish it would hurry up.

Sparkyduchess · 30/11/2019 21:29

That was unbelievably good, even better the second time I played it.

Gosbsmacked the BBC aired it !
