Clitherow, yes thank you! I have problems with MN's search function only working intermittently for me and couldn't search that far back (hQ fully aware of issues and have been for nearly two years but no resolution in sight!).

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/11/2019 15:36

Wow, absolutely agape at what I have been reading. So counsel for Humberside Police tried to suppress information that the complainant was in fact themselves tweeting derogatory material? That is truly gobsmacking. And Humberside Police refuse to accept HM was intimidated because he’s taken it all the way to The High Court? Well, that’s an interesting interpretation. I rather take the interpretation that HM was so perturbed by the actions of Humberside Police that he felt that there was no other choice than to take it to The High Court.

Is anybody minded of that well worn excuse of abusers, ‘I haven’t been violent because you’re not in hospital?’

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 15:36

Maybe they just don't do share tokens, sorry for making you faff around if so.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 21/11/2019 15:38

Get the le creuset back out, @BernardBlacksWineIceLolly, I'm feeling a bit of judge love myself.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/11/2019 15:39

Can I love him in a sisterly kind of way?

I respect his MIND

But seriously, he did seem to get to the nub of the matter pretty incisively. And yes, Manchester council estate to High Court judge - respect

user1463815082 · 21/11/2019 15:40

I've never posted before but I wanted to say I am in awe of you all and want to thank all those who tweeted and commented here on the tweets. Also, think the judge was awesome.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 15:40

...I hope you're intending to wash the pots thoroughly afterwards.

I find the argument that if someone who has been visited and bullied by the police publicises what has happened to them they cannot then say they were anxious and concerned, because if they were so anxious and concerned they would have crawled into a hole and stayed silent. This is an utterly contemptible argument.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 21/11/2019 15:40

Melioration

thread unroll

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 21/11/2019 15:41

No worries Bovary, thanks for trying anyway!

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 21/11/2019 15:42

Sorry, BovaryX, the share token doesn't work for me either.

BovaryX · 21/11/2019 15:44

Sorry, but it looks like you can only share via Facebook and Twitter. Shame because I think many of you would have liked it. Very frustrating

ProfessorSlocombe · 21/11/2019 15:46

my head is still spinning at how bad the police counsel was and how pretty much everything they said fell apart under questioning. I mean it wasnt even difficult to expose the ridiculousness

You can't polish a turd. (Well actually, you ...). No matter how pathetically weak the case may be, the barrister un lucky enough to draw it has to present it to the best of their ability. At the end of the day it's no skin off their nose. I'd happily take their fee for seemingly making a prat of myself in court. And no disrespect to the vipers of MN, but Mr. Auburn is hardly going to be kept awake by the ridicule thereof.

please please please let Harry get awarded costs...

Whilst that would be a given, never underestimate the spite of officials scorned. Assuming HM is awarded judgement, be prepared for an insta-appeal from the CoP (they've probably already completed the forms). And should that fail, be prepared for moves to take it to SCOTUK. And if that takes months, maybe a year or more, of worry, stress and uncertainly for Harry, so much the better.

It's nothing personal. Nobody is allowed to tweak the nose of power and get away with it.

chilling19 · 21/11/2019 15:48

Feeling brighter about the whole thing after today. Well done Harry & co!

GrinitchSpinach · 21/11/2019 15:48

Agreed, thatdamnwoman.

And Bernard would you kindly stop shaming my kink for intelligent men who see right through bullshit and address it very sternly?

OvaHere · 21/11/2019 15:49

Lol

Fallingirl · 21/11/2019 15:51

Where do the other cases Faircop have been talking about fit with this JR?

This one is only about Harry, while the Stonewall-law behaviour of the police towards others is equally concerning.

ProfessorSlocombe · 21/11/2019 15:52

Who said it's an argument ?

From some angles, it looks like it will form the next iteration of the CoP manual ...

Do as we say, or you'll have to drag us to the High Court

BovaryX · 21/11/2019 15:53

No problem Prodigal, it looked like they did because there was the email icon, but I couldn’t get it to work -apparently you can only share on Twitter and Facebook.

OvaHere · 21/11/2019 15:53

Isn't that a bit like the reporting of sexual offences. Speak up and a woman is vexatious or attention seeking. Stay quiet through trauma for years = proof it never happened because you would have said something at the time.

RoyalCorgi · 21/11/2019 15:55

Few things have given me as much pleasure as reading that thread. To take one example:

Judge - I am afraid you will have to give me a specific reference to where it says police role is to act in community mediation ...give me the reference please
mentions Judge - 'have due regard to the need to'... yup

Counsel for P - due regard to need to foster good relations...

Judge just a second - reads - doesn't say anything there about acting as community mediation service

mentions Counsel for P - can I assist further

Judge - No. no.

mateysmum · 21/11/2019 15:55

Do you think one of the adult human females in the judge's life reads Mumsnet and has helped him understand things like "Terf"?

If so, and you are reading this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU

TinselAngel · 21/11/2019 15:56

So am I understanding it correctly that Harry's team were able to say to the judge "We've got hardly anything to add, your honour, you've already said it all for us?" Shock

Cookieflavoredbiscuit · 21/11/2019 15:57

Now that you put it like that it seems obvious. Nothing for it but to keep PULLLING.

RoyalCorgi · 21/11/2019 15:59

Not sure how judicial review works, but does the judge have to give leave to appeal?

Loads of startling stuff in that thread, by the way, but am particularly struck by the "victim" who had herself been tweeting offensive stuff. Any idea who it was? I suppose we're not allowed to know.
