I'm pretty shocked by this. Artist who has dared to 'openly show[ed] support for the "LGB Alliance"' has had her talk at Oxford Brookes cancelled:

Hard to imagine, PT.

Brilliant, Rachel Ara. Another brave woman willing to stand up. I'm so in awe.

Thanks for the share, Igneococcus.

ChattyLion · 25/11/2019 17:46

Thank you for the share token Igneo. I really hope that artist takes them to court. Who the fuck appointed that shameful misogynist ‘TERFS out of Art’ Hmm as the Witchfinder General?

lionheart · 25/11/2019 18:02

Thanks for posting that.

I see that Rachel Ara is asking for a judicial review. Well, she is fundraising for one. Aim is to:

'hold Oxford Brookes accountable for the way they have let a lobbying group influence their academic mission'

So important that these legal cases are supported. Academic freedom, civil liberties, freedom of speech, freedom to make art, to ask questions. All things that are not certainties, and must be protected.

It is quite incredible that the Enlightenment values many of us took for granted are under relentless, aggressive attack from an authoritarian faction who want to rigidly suppress any dissent or discussion of their unpopular agenda. This is the 21st century. Who would have imagined 10 years ago that people would be persecuted for expressing a belief in biological reality?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 10/12/2019 07:55

Yep, Bovary. I think the absurdity and unexpextedness of it is maybe partly why it's difficult to counter this ideology.

Takes a good while to realise that yes, we really do need to re-assert the flatness of earth, the existence of gravity and the dimorphism of the species.

Those who can make you believe absurdities ...

If anyone else would like to read Ara's full statement or support her judicial review, its on her crowdjustice page. Which I'm not allowed to link to, I think, but googling Ara's name should bring it up.

Scrimshaw, have a look at this. Obliterating biological sex was a direct aim of the GRA and it was successfully achieved by deliberately manipulating language. It’s quite incredible. Thank you for tip, I will google Ara.

Yes, if you fancy doing a bit of digging to help Rachel Ara out, she can be found at that usual place.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 10/12/2019 15:57

One fifth of the way there already. Heartening to see.
