"I went to board my flight today, having had my ESTA approved online. I have not been allowed to board because my ESTA has been withdrawn and nobody in the US Embassy or at Homeland security can give me a reason why. I have to apply to the embassy."

If I were him I would be very concerned at the depths I am willing to sink to, to harm women. I don't want to say evil, but....

CodenameVillanelle · 19/11/2019 18:06

No he was referring to someone else with dual citizenship and gloating that they wouldn't need an ESTA and wouldn't have any issues travelling. He's a total psychopath.

Carowiththegoodhair · 19/11/2019 18:08

An ESTA allows you to travel for 90 days for business purposes.

popehilarious · 19/11/2019 18:13

Holy shirtballs. Fingers crossed this is his undoing. This is surely severe harassment?
Men wouldn't do anything so egregious as to lie to harass women though, so I guess it couldn't be him.

ClosdesMouches · 19/11/2019 18:27

PeopleLike - You're posting misinformation.

An ESTA approval authorisation is not a guarantee that the applicant will be permitted entry to the U.S.
Caroline was not refused an ESTA. Her application was approved. But the ESTA has subsequently been withdrawn.
This has considerable ramifications for any future travel to the USA. Caroline will now have to go through the application process for a visa, which can be lengthy.

The rules for ESTA do allow eligible people to travel to conferences and on certain types of business.
However there are different rules for journalists and other members of the media if they intend to do paid work whilst in the U.S.

This is the official site for ESTA application. (The one linked earlier is NOT the official site even though it calls itself official.) :

If someone had made a spurious allegation or report then that sounds like harassment to me

nauticant · 19/11/2019 18:36

Whenever someone like PeopleLike posts, it's best to do an advanced search.

Let's just say MN isn't the only place they post stuff like their post above.

That’s just evil

GeordieTerf · 19/11/2019 19:11

Even if he’s joking, his joke is in very poor taste.

Thanks for answering me. I realized I spelled 'dual' wrong as soon as I posted Blush

People like Harrop scare me as they are suffering from some sort of mental/personality disorder which make them unreasonable and downright evil. SJWs have become unhinged where I live as well and are out to ruin the lives of anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Scary Jehovah’s Witnesses?

HavelockVetinari · 19/11/2019 20:23

I'm sorry this happened @Carowiththegoodhair my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Also - sue the fucker for harrassment! Angry

Campervan69 · 19/11/2019 20:24

Wow. That's all kinds of messed up.

MoltenLasagne · 19/11/2019 20:38

Are there consequences for false representation of the sort that seems to have happened here? Is it defamation or slander of some sort? Beyond the obvious harassment of course.

What particularly concerns me is the clear pattern of escalation. There are a number of activists that have been getting away with terrible behaviour in clear view for over a year now. The lack of consequences has made them feel invincible and up the ante.

Doobigetta · 19/11/2019 20:57

This is appalling. There must be someone who can get this little shit stopped, surely.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/11/2019 21:02

Wow we're under a lot of scrutiny tonight

Lysistrataknowsherstuff · 19/11/2019 21:18

It doesn't take much for the US to revoke a visa - even ridiculous allegations will do. A few years ago there was that Gossip Girl actress, Kelly something, whose legal team told the state dept that her German STBXH was an arms dealer: visa revoked and deported. It would probably only take a phone call with a spurious allegation for a visa to be revoked.

PronounssheRa · 19/11/2019 21:26

It strikes me that Caroline is being targeted because of her religious beliefs.

I would be tempted to report all involved or suspected to be involved in this harassment to the police as hate incidents/hate crime. It might help focus minds.

Not all hate incidents will amount to criminal offences, but it is equally important that these are reported and recorded by the police. Evidence of the hate element is not a requirement

www.merseyside.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/hco/hate-crime/what-is-hate-crime/

This is beyond creepy stalky behaviour.

BadgertheBodger · 19/11/2019 21:31

This is fucking outrageous Shock

AH has obviously lost the plot entirely if he thinks this is a) funny, b) appropriate and c) completely totally fine to publicly tweet under his own name.

Even if this is nothing to do with him or his cronies, showing yourself up to be quite such a spiteful gloating fucker is quite the embarrassment. Caro take care Flowers

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 19/11/2019 21:43

This is extremely alarming.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 19/11/2019 22:29

Someone on KF rather magnificently nicknamed him Squealer a while back. Can't see him as anything else now tbh.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/11/2019 22:33

According to Caroline on twitter it would appear that complaints may have been made to the police in the last week, and then these complaints reported to the embassy.
