Thread 2!

OP posts:
Waterl00 · 19/11/2019 21:07

Well done Maya, we had some laughs at the crazy but that was some serious work for you to do and massive stress. We all appreciate it.

That HR Director is shocking. He really messed up.

Datun · 19/11/2019 21:10

There are no reporting restrictions on the names of the witnesses or others named tribunal proceedings (so please put stuff back MNHQ!)

Does anyone know if that extends to all other details in the witnesses' lives? Like where they work, tweets they have sent?

I'm assuming it does, but legal clarification would be useful.

MForstater · 19/11/2019 21:19

Datun The judge gave out copies of the witness statements to people attending the tribunal (both journalists and ordinary citizens) and said they are allowed to tweet and report on all aspects of them, as well as anything said in the tribunal.

They weren't allowed to take the witness statements away with them, or to take photos in the tribunal.

We had the home addresses of the witnesses redacted from the statements (i.e mine and Kristina's) that were shared, but everything else is open for reporting and public discussion.

Cuntysnark · 19/11/2019 21:20

Maya. I may have hugged you at the meeting in London when Sharron Davies spoke. I sincerely want to hug you now. What a shitshow (and I’ve said that here today ffs) When will this insanity end. So many women cheering you on. Much unmumsnetty love. I can’t get my head round this nonsense.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/11/2019 21:24

Maya Gin Gin Gin thanks for staying strong

MindTheMinotaur · 19/11/2019 21:27

Heartfelt thanks Maya for all your hard work.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 19/11/2019 21:29

Maya, you are amazing. Hope you can have a bit of a rest now.

OvaHere · 19/11/2019 21:32

Thank you Maya. Well done.

Perhaps now now Maya has clarified you can restore posts MNHQ. I'm deeply disappointed you've interfered with important threads of reference with no good reason.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 19/11/2019 21:33

Hope you're doing ok Maya!

MNHQ it really isn't
a good luck to be censoring posts when a judge has specifically said there are no restrictions.

Bellevu · 19/11/2019 21:37

@MForstater I hope the playlist is keeping you going.

Very proud of your fortitude.

Clymene · 19/11/2019 21:53

You're amazing Maya. I have huge respect for your fortitude. I hope you can take strength from all the women in your corner.

HumberHellraiser · 19/11/2019 21:55

Massive well done getting through this Maya. You and your legal team are hugely impressive.

The other lot are hugely entertaining.

Sexnotgender · 19/11/2019 21:56

Well done Maya, you must be exhausted!!

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 19/11/2019 21:58

Huge respect to you Maya. I so admire your bravery and fortitude.
Hope you manage to take care of you for a bit now.

Datun · 19/11/2019 21:59

Thanks for your response Maya. I have no doubt that people are reporting this thread and telling HQ all sorts of bogey stories about what we are, and aren't, allowed to do.

So that clarification should be unequivocal confirmation that we can freely discuss all details.

Strewth, we shouldn't have to do this. We shouldn't have to constantly account for every syllable we utter. Or painstakingly justify quite normal discourse.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for going through this.

myfavouriterain · 19/11/2019 22:06

@MichaelMumsnet as a pp has said, sinister is the word for it. Who is leaning on you to censor women here, far beyond what is required by the actual court?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/11/2019 22:06

I've had four posts deleted from the other thread. I think that might be as many as I've had deleted in the ten years or so I've been on MN. I know what three of them were, and it's very clear who's been monitoring this thread. I'm absolutely baffled what could have led to the one from earlier this afternoon being deleted. As far as I can recall I was criticising UCU - is that not allowed now?

Creepster · 19/11/2019 22:10

@MNHQ

You make unnecessary work for yourself and then complain it is so much work to moderate this board.
There is no earthly reason for you to remove all those names just to put them back when you do the most basic inquiry that you should have done before you deleted.

HandsOffMyRights · 19/11/2019 22:14

Maya, I am so proud of you and the unflinching courage and conviction you have shown.

These are dark times and I thank you for the sunlight. You inspire me to be bolder, braver, smarter.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/11/2019 22:19

Maya, thank you so much for your fortitude and willingness to take a stand on this. We all owe you a lot. I hope you don't have to wait too long for the outcome.

ThePurported · 19/11/2019 22:22

Maya Flowers Gin Thank you, thank you, thank you.

If anyone had any doubt, witness X's conduct showed that this bollocks has gone far enough. It has to stop.

And shame about the silly unnecessary deletions, especially when Bob and others went through all that effort to keep us up to date. Angry

AnotherLass · 19/11/2019 22:25

Maya you are amazing. Thank you so much.

Did CQ really say in court that the Tavistock does not prescribe puberty blockers?

post-edited by MNHQ to clarify that with no reporting restrictions in place CQ here refers to Clair Quentin.

APerkyPumpkin · 19/11/2019 22:25

Jesus - SOME WOMEN ARE TALKING ABOUT A PERFECTLY LEGAL AND OPEN PROCESS WE MUST CENSOR THEM.

What a fucking joke.

CriticalCondition · 19/11/2019 22:30

Maya, can't thank you enough for taking a stand on this. I know it's not over yet but getting even this far has made such a difference. Thank you. Flowers

Birdsfoottrefoil · 19/11/2019 22:32

MN deletions seem concentrated around Clair Quentin’s testimony. The fact that Clair testified is public knowledge, what Clair said is public knowledge, the judge approved the tweeting of Clair’s testimony. If Clair wishes to say things in court in a case such as this with potentially huge ramifications then it is reasonable that people should be allowed to discuss what was said.
