That's a very good article, this is exactly how I feel about Self-ID, thank you Jenni.

midcenturylegs that federalist article is interesting. Very comprehensive.

Noted this in particular
“In February 2017, Apple, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Yelp, PayPal, and 53 other mostly tech corporations signed onto an amicus brief pushing the U.S. Supreme Court to prohibit schools from keeping private facilities for students designated according to sex.”

The whole question as to why a civil rights movement related to a tiny minority is getting such massive political support, simply goes back to it being favourable for rich people to make more money.

Florence is now up to 831 responses! Is this a Times record? I’d like to post this comment to the Times but as they’re still not publishing any comments on this article there’s no point in trying to do that.

Mner2019 · 14/11/2019 11:04

The article is a superb piece of writing. She absolutely nails it

BouquetOfRoses · 14/11/2019 11:12

Great article Jenni Star👍👏

Igneococcus · 14/11/2019 11:17

People are starting to talk about it under Janice Turner's article:

Yes but they seem to jump from 16 hours ago to one hour ago - mine was about five hours ago Hmm

Datun · 14/11/2019 12:37

There is an equal tension within the trans rights movement between those who have genuine gender dysphoria and wish to live as the opposite sex and those activists who are using the cover of trans rights and self-ID to intimidate, taunt, assault and access women in vulnerable spaces.

And good luck ever distinguishing between the two. Ever, ever, ever.

Because, guess what, no-one can live as the opposite sex. Not even those men who really, really want to, and for whom it is a continual source of distress. No-one.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/11/2019 12:49

What does living as a man/woman even mean? Nobody has ever been able to explain that.

MissLawls · 14/11/2019 13:15

Fantastic article. Pulls no punches.

Ereshkigal · 14/11/2019 13:18

Can anyone screenshot or c&p Florence's post?

Ereshkigal · 14/11/2019 13:28

Don't worry, I've seen it now. All the comments are coming through and still lots of people still commenting by the looks of it. Couple of TRAs but overwhelmingly comments are supportive of the article and her position.

CriticalCondition · 14/11/2019 13:32

I have gone out and bought today's Times and will be sending a hard photocopy of this article to each of the candidates in my constituency.
My MP seems to like snailmail and sent me a letter the day the election campaign started setting out her position on Brexit.
This article is so good and expresses my feelings so perfectly. I would have voted Lib Dem because of Brexit but they have lost my vote over this issue. This is the deciding factor for me now.

endofthelinefinally · 14/11/2019 13:34

I was reading the comments but I can't even see any now.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 14/11/2019 14:23

I've emailed the article to my mp. He's Tory and not exactly progressive. I've never votes Tory in my life but will do it holding my nose if he tells me he supports women's rights.

Actually, this is a potentially massive vote winner for the Tories. Blue haired TRAs and the woke brigade are never going to vote for them anyway. But they could pick up a lot of votes by standing up for women.

Arella · 14/11/2019 14:59

Where do you see if your comment is pending approval? Mine is still not there ...

endofthelinefinally · 14/11/2019 15:07

According to the Times today, Mermaids has received over £715k this year.
£522.658 in donations and legacies.
HBomberGuy, a you tube star donated £25k.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 14/11/2019 15:08

Mermaids sickens me.

endofthelinefinally · 14/11/2019 15:08

Sorry, £522,688.

Just had another look at the article. The comments are really heartening with a massive number of men commenting as well - often with clear insight into the issues.
They also seem to have stopped pre moderating the comments.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 14/11/2019 17:07

Have just emailed this to the Lib Dems, who recently sent me something suggestig I vote for them. Might email it to the other local candidates, actually.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 14/11/2019 17:08
  • by 'this', I mean the Times article.
boatyardblues · 15/11/2019 00:09

I just looked 551 comments and another 5 in active progress. Wow! Too many to read now, as I need to go to bed, but a phenomenal response.
