There was the SNP Women's Pledge, launched at their conference last month, and now there is a Labour women's pledge with 300 founder signatories, including three MSPs.

Declaration can be signed here: www.ipetitions.com/petition/labour-womens-declaration

So what, they signed it. Good to know Lady Di remembers us from the other side.

PurpleCrowbar · 12/11/2019 13:09

Signed.

Still won't be voting for the buggers until I see an official policy change, but it's good to raise awareness.

It’s very handy to press CLPs and candidates to sign up to

Because it’s completely reasonable and oh so revealing if they won’t

I fully expect to get the brush off from my local CLP women’s officer (she’s a non-man type), but once a candidate has been selected I’ll be in touch again

Great letter Oak. Shame they are all going NC - an odd time to decide to do that since election time is sure to lead to lots of reasonable questions from the electorate. I'll send a version to my MP anyway I think. Can't do any harm and might encourage them to think this through before they alienate any more women.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 12/11/2019 13:49

I got an out of office from my MP with a link to a contact email address, so it’s worth a try

You will be happy with, for example, Corbyn's show of solidarity today with another South American Marxist?

More info?

It's readily available but here you go.

Corbyn is a dangerous, stupid man driven by Marxist ideology. The self-id part is only a minuscule part of why he should never be PM.

Oakmaiden · 12/11/2019 15:58

It isn't really relevant to this thread, I suppose Shona, but thank you for the links. When I tried Googling earlier it kept coming up with Venezuela stuff from earlier in the year. As normal there are two sides to the story. It is hard when you don't know what to believe and don't trust anyone to be telling the truth....

Great!

There was some coverage of the declaration in the Scottish media yesterday, both The Scotsman newspaper and Holyrood magazine (political publication). Petition now just over 1,800 signatories.

Not far off 2,000 signatories. That was quick.

morningtoncrescent62 · 13/11/2019 11:54

I've signed. I don't know if it will make any difference, and I'm sad and angry that such obvious stuff now needs to be said. But I'm still very glad to see it. It's just gone over 2,000 signatures, well done to the organisers.
