I don't know how this passed me by, but transgender cricketer Maxine Blythin was awarded 2019 Kent Woman Player of the Year.
I have no words left to describe this situation, none at all.

Yes whenever I see/hear 'inclusive' now my hackles raise because I expect something that excludes women.

teawamutu · 06/11/2019 17:31

A a woman, you can also be excluded from a women's team because of the decision to be 'inclusive' to a player born male.

So progressive.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/11/2019 17:41

And inclusive used to mean making adaptions for people with disabilities or additional needs... now it’s just paint a rainbow on it.

TheShoesa · 06/11/2019 18:03

This gem was on an email from my child's sports club when I queried them asking for gender identity:

'We ask about gender rather than sex as this is all we need to know with regards to our transgender policy, and it is regarded by many as a more inclusive method of collecting the info we require

I don't even know what that means!!

OldCrone · 06/11/2019 18:15

We ask about gender rather than sex as this is all we need to know with regards to our transgender policy

What does their transgender policy say?

TheShoesa · 06/11/2019 18:37

OlCrone It is a bit of a mish mash. It uses transsexual and transgender interchangeably. Says there must be no restriction to compete unless necessary for fair and safe play. That a trans person should be treated as the sex in which they present, not their birth sex (I suppose this is why they are not interested in knowing the participant's sex at all) unless this would give the trans person an unfair advantage. Then reminds the reader that this particular sport is an impact sport and safety is paramount.

TheShoesa · 06/11/2019 18:46

Treating all players and spectators with respect is great.

Asking the trans individual which communal changing room they wish to use (I assume without asking players of whichever sex that is) not so much.

To be honest it reads as though they expect any trans player to be transsexual GID sufferers rather than anyone else under the umbrella. It contradicts itself. And chucks bits of the EA in here and there for no apparent reason.

I imagine that I would be considered terribly transphobic for wanting to protect sports for women born female.

OldCrone · 06/11/2019 19:02

Asking the trans individual which communal changing room they wish to use (I assume without asking players of whichever sex that is) not so much.

Are all the parents aware that there might be boys in the girls' changing rooms?

littlbrowndog · 06/11/2019 19:29

And of course a woman will lose herv place on the team

But hey who cares. Long as we are inclusive

zanahoria · 07/11/2019 08:38

" But her impressive club appearances have been clouded by transphobic abuse from the group Fair Play for Women"

www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/katie-hopkins-epically-shut-down-3507644.amp

not a scrap of evidence.

NotBadConsidering · 07/11/2019 08:44

“Epically shut down” based on one person’s tweeted reply?

“Mic drop” Hmm? Does Vicky Castle have aspirations to be a real journalist one day I wonder?

Incidentally did anyone ask Tammy Beaumont why we have men’s cricket and women’s cricket in the first place?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 08:48

She has trotted out the official line. How will she feel when she is dropped?

IWantADifferentName · 07/11/2019 08:49

I’d like to comment on this but I I think my brain is exploding. Why are so many people oblivious to what is going on??!?!?

Needmoresleep · 07/11/2019 08:53

And the award for Ally of the Year goes to ....

Tammy Beaumont

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 08:54

Because if they don’t say what they have been taught there is a mahoosove pile on and many threats.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 08:54

Tammy wouldn’t win it! Someone else would get in there first.

Kit19 · 07/11/2019 09:04

Lots of ppl on twitter pointing out the fact that Hopkins being a vile human doesn’t make her wrong on this

Still on the plus side more are peak transed every day....

Siameasy · 07/11/2019 09:10

The journo looks quite young i suppose 🤷‍♀️
It seems like the “man on the street” totally gets it but most people in any sort of “position” is sticking to the party line rigidly.
I’ve never known a time for such a contrast between what institutions (for want of a better word) are pushing vs what the public want. The public do not want this.

Needmoresleep · 07/11/2019 09:14

Poor Tammy, too late for a nomination for this year's Rainbow Honours.

Nominees are:

TRANS ADVOCATE
Given to an individual or an organisation who has stood out in their support for the trans community.

Adele Roberts - BBC Radio Presenter
Adrian Harrop - Doctor & LGBT Campaigner
Alison Camps - Co-chair Pride in London
Anthony Watson - Founder & Chief Executive Officer - TBOL
Hannah Bardell - Member of Parliament
Owen Jones - Journalist
Ruth Hunt - Former CEO Stonewall
Simon Blake - Deputy Chair of Stonewall

Pity it does not seem to be decided by a public vote.

Datun · 07/11/2019 09:25

"As far as I’m aware there’s no conclusive proof of any 'advantages' of being a trans woman in cricket.

How can people possibly maintain this delusion in the teeth of the transparent reality?

MidniteScribbler · 07/11/2019 09:37

Cricket is a sport for all and no one should be excluded because of who they are.

Sport may be a human right, but winning is not.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 09:48

So why are women being excluded from squads for being who they are?

OldCrone · 07/11/2019 10:05

As far as I’m aware there’s no conclusive proof of any 'advantages' of being a trans woman in cricket.

There isn't, as is shown by Blythin's unexceptional performance when playing on the men's team. But there's obviously an advantage to being born male when playing on the women's team.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/11/2019 10:11

'as far as I'm concerned' they haven't thought about it then.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 07/11/2019 10:58

How can people possibly maintain this delusion in the teeth of the transparent reality?

Did you see the tweet saying "the only thing I can find anywhere saying Maxine had gone through male puberty is a Mumsnet post from two days ago. Discrimination and separation isn’t an answer. It’s transphobia."

Maintaining the illusion against all the evidence has been elevated to an art form by some dedicated transcultists. Imagine seriously considering that a transwoman having gone through male puberty is a vile calumny invented by mumsnetters.
