He wasn't am employee of Centerparcs, btw he was a guest who posed as a masseur to assault women.

Because predatory men (namalt is obligatory here) will become experts in deception in order to prey on vulnerable victims - and we know the victims are predominantly women and girls.

CenterParcs is being irresponsible.

theflushedzebra · 30/01/2020 20:01

And I do mean MEN, actual men, before anyone reports me. I am not talking about transwomen, I am talking about men exploiting a loophole.

ThePurported · 30/01/2020 20:08

Center Parcs are fools. Women + any males who demand access to women's spaces is not 'inclusive'. It's mixed-sex of the worst kind.

EverardDigby · 30/01/2020 20:11

I had a man massage me right into my groin once at a spa, not Centre Parcs though. He didn't quite put his hands inside my knicker line but right up to it. I've never had a woman massage me there. I couldn't work out whether I was being unreasonable and I was quite young and didn't complain, but I wish I had.

It is seriously not appropriate safeguarding for an organisation to rely on all people behaving appropriately. It is horrendous to simply say that you will intervene only when someone reports that they or others have been subjected to inappropriate behaviour.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 30/01/2020 20:40

Given that Center Parcs are so convinced everyone will behave honourably at all times, I wonder if they bother locking up their cash tills for the night? Or ask customers to pay up front?

I mean, surely they don't. They'll just deal with anyone stealing after the fact. (because, you know, the instances will be so rare it's not worth trying to minimise the risk).

Except that I think most people would agree that stealing is actually not as serious a crime as sexual assault or rape. Certainly if I had the choice between the two, I'd prefer to have something stolen.

Centre parcs essentially are saying that they don't care if young girls are sexually assaulted on their sites.

theflushedzebra · 30/01/2020 20:40

Oh that last one - as a teen girl, I had a teen (I think - older than me - I was only about 12 or 13) boy do that to me in a swimming changing rooms - stood on a bench and peered over the top, I only noticed him when he laughed, then he disappeared. I never told anyone - and now they have phones to do the viewing for them, and record it.

I suspect this is so much more common than everyone thinks.

ItsLateHumpty · 30/01/2020 21:15

Maybe this new 'inclusive' info should be posted on Trip Advisor?

As Vicky had such a lovely time, and couldn't wait to let us, and the media know, I'm sure they'll leave a glowing review on Trip Advisor because they're so righteous, and of course they'll want to share with their LGBTQIA+ community that CP is inclusive.

I'm sure the response will be positive.

I like sunshine.

popehilarious · 30/01/2020 21:31

We trust our guests to make sensible decisions and conduct themselves with respect for each other.

I strongly suspect that is not true. Does the accommodation have locks on it? Do they have security in the shops/tills/etc? Or an honesty box?

Why come out with this stuff?

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 30/01/2020 22:12

Basically they're saying for crimes like stealing we don't trust people but for crimes like sexual assault / flashing we do. Which basically translates to - we don't give a fuck about crimes committed against women and girls. We don't care that sexual assaults are hugely more common in mixed sex facilities.

We don't care about safeguarding of children.

All we care about is our bottom line.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/01/2020 22:17

We’d all better teach our daughters to tut very loudly. Mind you, once the wrong sort find out they’ve been given the green light to enter female spaces, it’s going to get very loud from the tutting! Hmm

EmpressLangClegInChair · 30/01/2020 22:27

Will Center Parcs be providing free sets of sturdy pyjamas? I seem to remember that was the recommended advice for Girlguiding members who might find themselves expected to sleep next to males.

OhHolyJesus · 30/01/2020 22:30

I'm not holding out much hope for a reasonable response from Guest Services so might try emailing the CEO Martin Dalby, pictures here.

Based on the email address configuration I reckon his email might be:

Center Parcs upholding single sex spaces?
T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 30/01/2020 22:42

Oh look. A group of men in charge of an organisation that has decided to let males enter females spaces. There’s a surprise. 🙄

Kilbranan · 30/01/2020 23:19

I can’t believe CP are so stupid as to cave on this. Who are their target market? - families with children. Yet they dismiss all safeguarding and introduce mixed sex communal facilities by stealth. Utter donkeys the lot of them Angry
I will never book a holiday with them on the basis of this

Datun · 30/01/2020 23:33

They never, ever get it, do they?

popehilarious · 30/01/2020 23:33

Did you forget to link to the MN thread where we are discussing that guidance?

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 30/01/2020 23:35

Stonewall ‘law’ getting ahead of itself again!

When will government agencies realise you can’t let lobbyists write your guidance for you? 😂

GirlOnTheRoof · 30/01/2020 23:40

Written by the Crown Prosecution Service...!

theflushedzebra · 30/01/2020 23:43

Did you forget to link to the MN thread where we are discussing that guidance?

And we're not getting our info from Pink News Wink

popehilarious · 30/01/2020 23:45

Yes, the article is so badly written that it states something is 'unlawful' in the headline then in the article describes when it is lawful.
