Sadly, I feel the only way this will come to a head will be when the inevitable incidents are reported.

But incidents have already happened. metro.co.uk/2019/03/16/transgender-woman-18-sexually-assaulted-girl-10-morrisons-toilet-8914577/

Read the 'this never happens' thread. Lots and lots and lots of incidents.

This is only going to stop when it hurts companies financially - we need to boycott and sue.

And an honest company that really believed what they're saying would simply make everything unisex.

Not dupe women and girls into using a facility called 'womens' that is mixed sex.

Datun · 30/01/2020 17:17

We trust our guests to make sensible decisions and conduct themselves with respect for each other.

A person who is walking through a female changing room, insisting on access, despite being given an alternative, and knowing that many women will object, has already made a decision. And it doesn't involve respect.

I can't believe they're so stupid.

Datun · 30/01/2020 17:18

And an honest company that really believed what they're saying would simply make everything unisex.

Exactly. And advertise it. If the 'inclusivity' reason is so bloody cool, they should be putting it on all their marketing material.

Datun · 30/01/2020 17:19

Centre parks, the place where families with little children can enjoy a range of activities,. Including spas, and swimming pools.

And even better, all our changing rooms are mixed sex. Even the communal ones.

TimeLady · 30/01/2020 17:20

I agree. C'mon Center Parcs - celebrate your wokeness.

Maybe this new 'inclusive' info should be posted on Trip Advisor?

FrogsFrogs · 30/01/2020 17:25

'We trust our guests to make sensible decisions and conduct themselves with respect for each other. Should any inappropriate behaviour be highlighted in any area, we would of course intervene. '

This is a sort of updated version of namalt and if things go wrong then can do something after the event.

Just make it all mixed sex and be done with it FFS. Then women and girls can vote with their feet/ wallets.

wellbehavedwomen · 30/01/2020 17:26

Center Parcs confirmed that they do have a private changing cubicle within the Aqua Sana, open plan, female changing room and that Vicky was more than welcome to use it and the changing room as she wishes to. Center Parcs also confirmed they are a fully inclusive organisation. I can also confirm that Vicky has now been to Center Parcs, used the changing room and she had a great weekend with her family

It's far from clear that there is an expectation that the single cubicle is used. It's stated thatVicky was more than welcome to use it and the changing room as she wishes to. Vicky then used the changing room - no reference to the cubicle.

And to access it, Vicky needed to walk through the communal changing area, and completely ignored women here asking whether there was any understanding that this could unnerve many women, and actively harm some. Again: Vicky may identify as a woman, but she sure as shit doesn't identify with women.

BringbackLang · 30/01/2020 17:31

(NC but regular poster)

So hang on. Are the communal 'single' sex swimming pool areas are now mixed sex? Is that what they are saying.

I took my LO in there when we went as it was a larger space to change in. There is no way that I
would be comfortable changing in a mixed sex area. Centre Parcs really need to advertise that they now only provide Unisex facilities. See how that does.

happydappy2 · 30/01/2020 17:48

FFS this is bollocks-have just phoned them to ask about their policy on how they accommodate transwomen, whilst also giving women & girls single sex changing rooms-the poor chap was a bit flustered & gave an email address but that might take 28 days to get a response!

So have asked via their general contact form, if the changing rooms are single sex (as allowed by law) or mixed sex....ie is there a chance a male could see myself & my daughter naked in the changing rooms. I just want a straight answer & if they are mixed sex-its going to be advertised on trip advisor for sure.

OhHolyJesus · 30/01/2020 17:54

We don't know if Vicky used the private cubicles or paraded naked around the open plan area. I think it's safe to say that Vicky could do as Vicky wishes as CP have made it clear that the women's changing room is not exclusively for the female guests.

This does only apply to the Spa though, so whilst I won't be getting a massage or using the Spa facilities the mixed sex family changing rooms in the swimming pool bit hasn't changed has it? They were always enclosed cubicles for changing.

R0wantrees · 30/01/2020 17:58

And an honest company that really believed what they're saying would simply make everything unisex.

They would also need to be aware of the significant increased risk of sexual assault that women & girls would be exposed to.
Of particular consideration would be the numerous cases of voyeurism in changing areas in swimming pools etc using mobile phones etc which have been prosecuted & publicised.

Does wokeness rot the brain cells?

flowery · 30/01/2020 18:38

I have a spa session booked for February. I have just emailed asking for confirmation that there will be no male-bodied individuals wandering around the changing area while I’m undressing/showering.

CallofDoodee · 30/01/2020 18:39

We trust our guests to make sensible decisions and conduct themselves with respect for each other.

What the fuck?

On what basis do they 'trust their guests'? Because Center Parcs is naice, middle class and expensive? Fucking great!

How about schools just throw out DBS checks? After all of course schools are only going to employ people that they 'trust', so no need for safeguarding at all.

Give me fucking strength.

flowery · 30/01/2020 18:49

As I just said to DH, I don’t want to be on edge when I’m in the spa- it defeats the object entirely!

TimeLady · 30/01/2020 19:02

I would think Vicky's post on here has given the green light to all and sundry to try out the facilities.

theunknownknown · 30/01/2020 19:06

Wouldn't it be prudent to ask MN to change the thread title - given the stance of CP it seems a little misleading.

Datun · 30/01/2020 19:23

We allow middle-aged men to be in the same changing room as you and your little girls/boys. Even the communal ones.

And

"We trust our guests to make sensible decisions and conduct themselves with respect for each other."

TimeLady · 30/01/2020 19:33

Oh, please let a Daily mail journalist pick this up. This could be CP's Ratner moment.

scotsheather · 30/01/2020 19:37

The pools closest to me are all mixed changing villages, floor length cubicles that lock. Its not perfect but at least you know what you're going to. Having a 'single sex' area which is not actually is utterly pointless and contempt for women expecting privacy.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 30/01/2020 19:41

Having a 'single sex' area which is not actually is utterly pointless and contempt for women expecting privacy.

Yes. It also removes the ability of parents to adequately safeguard their kids. Because they're lying to their customers.

What about a single Dad on his own with his DD? He might let her go into what he believes to be single sex space - BECAUSE IT SAYS SO - but if he knew it was mixed sex he'd go in too. I'm pretty sure most Dads wouldn't want their daughters in a facility that SAYS single sex but isn't.

Good call, CenterParcs, good call.

Nobody would EVER abuse your trust.

(Sorry about the Sun link - it was only tabloids that reported this.)

R0wantrees · 30/01/2020 19:50

from the link above, the guest/perpetrator posed as a member of Centre Parc's Spa staff:

'PEST LET OFF Center Parcs pervert masseur spared jail after groping two women during ‘complimentary massage’

"In a witness statement read to the court, the first victim said: "I feel that I was taken advantage of.

"It went from acceptable to totally unacceptable in moments."

The defence lawyer, Michael Stocken, told the court Maleki had turned to drugs and alcohol after the breakdown of his marriage.

He said: "His sense of right and wrong had been distorted." (continues)
