Ominous. A resounding loss. It's madness.
Hope dad can take it further.

The kid was transed because at age 5 chose a McDonalds 'girl' toy.HmmSad

I'd take any information from a site like that with an entire box of salt.

zebrasdontwearbras · 22/10/2019 00:58

Thing is, in the US, very little media will report on these stories.

A 7yr old transitioning and preparing for puberty blockers?? In the esteemed words of PeachYoghurt - this is like a vegan cat. You know who made the decision.

Kiwiwiwiwi · 22/10/2019 02:01

strangelooking I don't give a damn which site it is where the medicalization and mutilation of children are concerned.

It's an entirely legit court case.

But you do you. Confused

What a sick fucked up world we have created.

MangoFeverDream · 22/10/2019 05:23

Parasite I’m an atheist but sometimes outlets like that will be the only ones that report on important topics! What are we supposed to do when mainstream outlets won’t report obvious news?

littlecabbage · 22/10/2019 06:09

Absolutely chilling.

AnyOldPrion · 22/10/2019 06:15

Texas. You’d think if the Christian argument might hold weight there. If even they are embracing it, then it’s going to be a very long road back.

Poor boy.

SarahTancredi · 22/10/2019 06:46

God this is terrifying.

That poor child. Leave them alone ffs. they can wear and play with whatever they like. It diesnt mean anything

FannyCann · 22/10/2019 08:09

That poor child. How will he ever be able to express his own doubts/choose his own identity - everyone around him is telling him he's a girl and no one is allowed to say different. Previous articles I have read about this case indicate that when he is with his father he is happy to be called James, chooses boy clothes and plays boy type sword fights etc with his twin.

I really feel for the father too. Imagine seeing this done to your child and not being able to fight it. And he'll no doubt be expected to stump up for medical bills too, not that that's the point obv.

I'm shocked at the jury - you'd think a few would be able to say "hang on a minute".

It's going to be a long way back. Sad

MangoFeverDream

Very true, it is like some people who say they will not read the Daily Mail or listen to Piers Morgan, yet both of those speak sense from time to time.
I used to be a Guardian and Indy reader, but won't touch them with a bargepole any more.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/10/2019 08:30

I wonder what the mum is a doctor of?

Poor child - my nephew is that age and he can’t decide if he wants the vampire or bat cookies in the supermarket. He knows he likes crocodiles but loves his cuddly cat. His sister has blue PJs with dinosaurs and loves superheroes.

I hope this case can be halted and reviewed. Will the church cough up for a lawyer? Lobby groups spend so much on anti abortion groups.

I suspect ‘better a trans child than a gay one’ could be an aspect here.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/10/2019 08:31

Here's another link. No idea what kind of site this is. More detailed report. thetexan.news/dallas-custody-battle-over-alleged-transgender-seven-year-old-will-resume-next-week/

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/10/2019 08:33

I'm afraid she's a medical doctor and a paediatrician. Sad

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 22/10/2019 08:33

That poor boy. His poor father.

I have no words to describe the evil being done by the most appalling people in the name of complete and utter claptrap.

kesstrel · 22/10/2019 08:34

Texas. You’d think if the Christian argument might hold weight there

Outweighed by homophobia, I suspect. Better female than gay. And this could also be a Christian argument: it's a way of preventing future "sin", similar to Iran, and if it's endorsed by the medical profession, so much the better.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/10/2019 08:35

If I was a patient (well mum of one) I’d find another doctor. She should be investigated - ‘first do no harm’ my arse.

The woman who donated the eggs must’ve thought that they were doing a good thing for a couple who would love and cherish the child. Not this. I don’t suppose she has any rights at all does she?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/10/2019 08:35

I don't like the way LifeSite is saying as if it's some kind of Gotcha! that Dr Georgulas is not the boy's biological mother. The twins are the product of IVF using an egg donor. So what. She's still his mother legally. But other than that, how can someone of her educational and professional background not see how dangerous affirmation is for a 7yo child? I wonder if that's what swayed the jury - they must have thought a paediatrician would be exceptionally well informed and wouldn't do this to her own son without good reason.

Let kids be kids. Let adults make decisions for themselves when they are adults (and I mean in their 20s, not teens).

Why not. Why play God with a child’s life. She will look at this child for the rest of their life so I hope she can sleep well knowing that she took them down this path.

How can she know that medicalisation is a ‘cure’ for whatever she perceives is ‘wrong’ with this child?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 22/10/2019 08:59

She doesn't 'know' and there is nothing wrong with this healthy little boy.

This is about the mother, not the child.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/10/2019 09:00

Indeedy. Her understanding of medicine, biology and children is definitely lacking. Where did she get her medical degree from? I think they should be asking for it back.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/10/2019 09:01

Did I read this was in the middle of a divorce? So a parent could never (consciously or unconsciously) harm a child to punish the other parent during an acrimonious divorce, no? Never happens?

LangCleg · 22/10/2019 09:06

I'm sitting wondering about whether jury trials in cases concerning child welfare are a good idea.

Anyway. Here is the clinic the child is a patient at:

www.childrens.com/specialties-services/specialty-centers-and-programs/endocrinology/programs-and-services/genecis-program

PPs have noted religion as a possible factor in Texas. So here's a paper written by a chaplain associated with the clinic:

digitalcommons.library.tmc.edu/jfs/vol17/iss2/4/

And here is a glowing Cosmo article about the senior clinician:
