Should transgender women be allowed to play women's sports?

Well, obviously we have pretty much one set of views on that, but this video from the US shows both sets of views, and intelligence wise I know which side I am supporting.

Mixed sports fine, womens sports no because they are not women. Men tend to be stronger and taller. And even after going through a change trans people will still have those charecteristics.

Babieseverywhere · 17/10/2019 18:17

No

superram · 17/10/2019 18:19

Not watching video-no!

ArgusFilchsCat · 17/10/2019 18:20

Nope. They are segregated by sex for very good reason.

Horehound · 17/10/2019 18:21

No

skql · 17/10/2019 18:34

noooooo

stucknoue · 17/10/2019 18:48

Generally no, there's the trickier problem though of intersex athletes which need to be treated with compassion, some only discovered that they didn't have xx chromosomes as teens when their periods failed to start.

HalloumiGus · 17/10/2019 18:50

No.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 17/10/2019 19:13

No, obviously.

Watching that video though, I can't believe how ignorant some people are of the facts, and how anti-women the rest are. There is simply no argument in support of transwomen competing in womens sports that is informed and considerate of women.

Lordamighty · 17/10/2019 19:25

The question to ask is, why do MTF transsexuals want to compete against biological women when there is no evidence of FTM transsexuals wanting to compete against biological males?
The answer of course is because they stand no chance of winning due to their biology. Science trumps ideology every time.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 17/10/2019 19:48

Unless they are jockeys - being a female body would help there I guess.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/10/2019 19:58

Nope. If there are a significant number of trans individuals wanting to play pro or semi pro sports then great, let's make a league for them. They can't simply take over the one that's for women.

Greeni · 17/10/2019 20:01

No. Even with hormones and whatever else they’re still built more masculine and like it or not men do tend to be bigger and stronger which is unfair.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 17/10/2019 20:29

Why do you all have numbers in your usernames may I ask?

Candle1000 · 17/10/2019 20:31

They can modify and chop off as many body parts as they like but a man is a man and should not compete in women’s sports.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/10/2019 03:05

Sports are set up for men, male bodies. There are plenty of physical things women are better at. Endurance swimming and running, anything involving weight (horse racing), size or similar, or pain. They don't get into the Olympics (for some reason). So women needed a category they could compete equally in. Because sports were made for male bodies to win at. Seems a touch unfair to then have people with male bodies in the female category.

So let's add ultra running, endurance swimming, ear pulling (Inuit pain thing) and anything else women excel at to the major sporting events. No? Not a chance because it's not about equality or fairness, if it was we'd already have a sporting world where women's skills were celebrated like men's are.

Fraggling · 18/10/2019 03:09

Skimming a bit as late.
Not watched video.
Did op come back?

Testosterone levels are a total red herring. I get why so many orgs like them but. It's one little measure in a whole physiology.

Anyway. No men should not compete against women obv.

Creepster · 18/10/2019 03:10

When they finally achieve men's sports and mixed sex sports by replacing women and girls with males who identify as a gender they will then have to create women's sports all over again or be in violation of Title VII.

NotBadConsidering · 18/10/2019 03:12

Generally no, there's the trickier problem though of intersex athletes which need to be treated with compassion, some only discovered that they didn't have xx chromosomes as teens when their periods failed to start.

“Compassion” though, doesn’t mean ignoring the results found as a teenager and allowing that person to continue to race for 10 years and become double Olympic champion, denying women of opportunities in the process, before THEN stopping the person from competing, like they did with Semenya.

Fraggling · 18/10/2019 03:13

That's an American thing I think?

Women in some countries think still not allowed to compete.

Fraggling · 18/10/2019 03:13

Oh that was to creepster.

Morning for you? Gone 3am here! I should go bed.

Durgasarrow · 18/10/2019 03:14

What morons could possibly think that is fair.

Durgasarrow · 18/10/2019 03:16

It makes me so angry when people compliment Caster Semenya for being gracious or heroic. Semenya is a blatant cheater and has known that she has a fully functioning xy body for years.

Creepster · 18/10/2019 03:17

Do you have any idea what it took for us to get Title VII in the US?

Girls not playing team sports was one of the justifications for discrimination against women in business. We were not "team players" you see because we did not have the team sports experience that the boys did. So naturally we had to be passed over for those positions that required leadership.

Fraggling · 18/10/2019 03:17

Hmmmmm

Watching the athletics world championships recently, some of the female competitors were not very adherent to patriarchal norms of attractiveness.

Men have never taken women's sport seriously and always only been interested when the women competing are attractive.

Given femininity is a big deal when it comes to transitioning, is this possibly something men will be OK with?

Which would explain a lot tbh
