Corbyn at the Pink News awards last night. Ridiculous. As if life isn't complicated enough without pushing the idea that EVERYONE should introduce their pronouns and remember each others, whatever they may be!

So pretentious, I know many gay people who will be cringing at this nonsense. Does Pink News exist to support or embarrass LGBT people?

This will definitely connect Corbyn back to the working classes. Hmm I'm a lifelong Labour voter, but sod it, I will vote Boris this time. Yes yes, I know of his many flaws, but if Lib Dems or Labour get in this stuff is just going to get completely bonkers (plus other reasons)

Is anyone else thinking that ten years ago a lot of people in the UK couldn't have said what a pronoun was?

Michelleoftheresistance · 17/10/2019 16:39

Can you imagine what the average working men's club would make of this middle class, self obsessed wankery?

Where exactly does Corbyn think his votes are coming from?

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2019 16:53

^ His lack of a decent education really shows

Adams Grammar was really well thought of back in the day^

So, either he's quite thick, or he squandered the chance of a good education. (Or both). Maybe he was too busy playing at student politics to be arsed learning? Is that where he's stuck at?

When you think of the kids, especially girls, who don't have the chance of a decent education, I've no time at all for people who waste their opportunities.

But a self id’ed socialist leader of the labour Party damn well should understand about structural inequality and be able to recognise that identitarianism and viewing womanhood as a monetised consumer good is as rightwing as it gets. He should recognise neoliberalism on speed when he sees it. The man is not only a misogynist, he is also an unintelligent knob.

Correct.

Where exactly does Corbyn think his votes are coming from?

Indeed. He's lost mine, my brother's and his wife's (both lifelong Labour) and even my octogenarian Dad's (Dad is a former coal miner, ffs!).

All because they now know that Corbyn is happy to endanger women and girls. My Dad is thinly-read, bless him - but even he sees that allowing males into his granddaughters' changing room, toilets, etc. is something up with which he cannot put.

Shallow virtue signalling. Right up Corbyn's street that.

Also considered properly offensive and hurtful by many old school transsexuals. It's superfluous to requirements if no one who identifies as trans is present, but we can all virtue signal to each other to show how welcoming we are to those we know are not like us.

Also implies rather strongly that none of those others who are definitely not like us can't possibly be relied upon to quietly and politely tell us if we've got it wrong (usually not the pronouns but form of address) so we just blanket assume they all need special treatment.

Asking someone who identifies as trans for pronouns still just tells them that their transition has failed, that they're obviously not what they'd like to be and no amount of asking everyone else for their pronouns is going to change that.

And isn't that what some of the detransitioners were also talking about? That while their gender dysphoria was at its worst, they found this an oppressive, stressful practice?

Vicky my dad is of a similar age, and what flipped him from 'oh I don't really care, it doesn't affect me' to writing to his MP and signing petitions was the realisation of people born male with full tackle in toilets, changing rooms and hospital wards inflicted on his daughters and granddaughters.

Then I showed him some of the Madigan shenanigans and he got so incandescent he had to mow the lawn to calm down.

Core vote? Know a knob when they see one.

he’s a complete dullard who lacks any intellectual rigour
This.

Indeed, we definitely needed a very tall, bearded individual whose past sexual relationship with at least one female politician is public knowledge to let us know that he's a bloke.

In the event that anyone was confused they'd only have to take note of the way he fobs off questions from and talks down to women to confirm that yes, indeed, he's definitely a man.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/10/2019 17:35

I'm belatedly reading The Times today - not sure if there's a thread anywhere about this (it's not specifically feminist but there does seem to be a group at the intersection of 'woman' and 'Jewish' (or anti- antisemitism ) who are particularly badly hit by Corbynism.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/mp-louise-ellman-quits-labour-and-says-corbyn-is-a-danger-to-britain-j80htb5fv?shareToken=7cee3b231dcadd4b0d000e22f047be27

And we're supposed to give a flying fuck about his pronouns?Hmm

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 17/10/2019 17:37

I have a former friend who tried to convince me there was no anti-Semitism in the Labour Party and it's all just a right wing conspiracy to smear Magic Grandad.

Funny how all those Jewish Labour MPs keep talking about the impact it's having on them then, eh?
