Brilliant :) annoyed at how few ive heard of although I suspect it would be similar if they listed the top 100 men

Yes they should take off Owl and put Magdalen there instead.

NotTerfNorCis · 16/10/2019 08:47

FamilyOfAliens yes precisely, first thing I did was go to the Identity section and count the males.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2019 09:48

I suppose if it's an MN list we can't include Justine Roberts? (But I would).

QuentinWinters · 16/10/2019 09:52

Jessica Eaton
Serena William's
Katerina JT
Nimco Ali

  • "trans woman Nisha Ayub was sentenced to three months in a male prison under a provision of Sharia law which prohibits "a male person wearing women's attire or posing as a woman in a public space.”

In a list celebrating women's achievements, the BBC are arguing for the right of male persons to have access to women's prisons.*

While agreeing that a male shouldn't be in a women's awards list (or prison), it's appalling that Ayub was jailed for the 'crime' of wearing 'women's attire'.

Joanna Cherry should absolutely be on that list.

This year, she has:

a) taken Twitter to task for allowing their platform to host violent, misogynistic content.

b) taken the Government to taak for unlawfully proroguing Parliament.

But no doubt she's the wrong kind of women's rights campaigner.

Obvs Joanna should have just sorted everything though the medium of porn - as that's what one woman has done to gain a place on that list.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2019 10:28

Some of the women on that list do deserve recognition...it might be good to read some of their biogs. My semi-random pick is Gada Kadoda.

zebrasdontwearbras · 16/10/2019 10:32

Errol - Syrian architect Marwa Al-Sabouni is another good one.

"FamilyOfAliens

It annoys me that my first thought when I saw the headline wasn't "I wonder which inspiring women are on this list" but "how many of them are men?"

Same."
Me too

Bloody knew there would be males on it Angry

Janice Turner would be on my list.

zebrasdontwearbras · 16/10/2019 10:40

The BBC could never give such an accolade to women like Joanne Cherry or Janice Turner. They'd be mauled to death by trans advocates in an instant.

In fact, they'd be mauled to death if they didn't feature any transwomen. Remember what happened to a tiny, one-woman twitter account called "Women's Art"? Mauled for not including any transwomen's art. As I remember, she told them where to go, but the BBC won't do that.

Meanwhile women get harassed, abused and jailed for not wearing woman’s attire there - where is their award?

I like this idea. Is it just 2019?

Would love to nominate Pat Craven due to her work on the freedom program and the insistance on funding independance for this so the program can stick to its original principles

IfNot · 16/10/2019 11:14

Lucy Bronze
( first English footballer to win the UEFA Women's Player of the Year Award 2019. I couldn't find her on the BBC list! )
