Single Transferable Vote system means votes were transferred to candidates in stages from candidates with lowest votes. Rhiannon didn't 'win' until stage 5. Colette got the most votes, and would have been clear winner with FPTP.

Ah. I used to be in favour of PR, til the STV delivered us a Tory council when barely anybody wanted it.
I really don't think the STV delivers a fair result half the time.

I'm hopeful that there will be a split in the SNP.

Joan McAlpine and Joanna Cherry can bail and take all the other bright women with them. I'd vote for that.

I want us to get indy first. Splitting the vote could be disastrous. Agree re STV system - it's not that fair either. I'd prefer simple proportional representation for parties, FPTP where there's only 1 winner.

Looking at the twitter accounts of most of the woke crowd, they're not fighting for indy, gender politics us their main priority. Unfortunately this time, shouting 'bigot' and 'transphobe' at well-known SNP women is going down like a lead balloon (including with the men), and the Women's Pledge is waking people up as to what's going on.

Every cloud has a silver lining. I'm very happy to see the SNP implode over this issue.

Rhiannon, has it occurred to you that the reason the Women's Pledge appears reasonable is because it is reasonable? The problem lies with your TRA mates.

It should be hilarious. AWA/TRAs make outrageous threats and statements so bizarrely unconnected to material reality that they have to be endlessly excused and downplayed. Women, by contrast, are just too reasonable. They say fair minded things, but Rhiannon and pals know the true intent is pure malevolent evil.
