Mumsnet will always stand in solidarity with minority communities. We don’t tolerate transphobic comments and will delete any when they are flagged to us. But we do also believe strongly in free speech. 1/3

The discussion of gender self-id and what that might mean for very hard-won women’s rights, as well as the rapidly growing number of children exploring gender identity issues, is contentious. 2/3

We know some people would like us to simply censor this entire debate but a similar number think we censor too much. We’re committed to allowing respectful discussion of an issue that is of particular interest to parents. 3/3

The usual suspects pile on, but I think the ratios look very good.

Oh sorry for being late to the thread but I'm desperate to say "off you pop then, cunty chops" 😂

Apologies if the moment has passed but I can't wait a second longer.

This is in response to the long flounce earlier 😁

GirlDownUnder · 15/10/2019 14:35

I think Venus just came here to throw their hot cup of bullshit at us.

Left a stinky mess, and ran away.

I’m looking with side eye at all the sheep wolf stuff because if I try and concentrate on it, my head goes funny.

Oo maybe the hot cup of bullshit was laced with something stronger hence the meandering incoherent noise argument?

I’m sitting in the hairdressers reading the last few pages of this thread and getting funny looks, because I’m grinning away. That wolf in a field of sheep was thoroughly enjoyable. Grin

Thanks brilliant Mumsnetters for so entertainingly demolishing Venus and his woke arguments and manly demands. I expect he is busily gathering his arse from the many plates that have been handed to him.

MrsSteveMcDonald · 15/10/2019 15:11

I think what's happening is similar to the butterfly effect. Every time women talk to each other a male attacks another male. Venus is here to stop us talking to protect random males.

Breathlessness · 15/10/2019 15:13

Someone pointing the violence of men as a group and in the same breath not understanding why women want and need women only spaces. Fear of male violence, sexual assault, unwanted attention that could very easily escalate into either of those, randomly shouted abuse when walking down the street etc are part of being a woman.

BeMoreMagdalen · 15/10/2019 15:25

A lone wolf in a field of sheep set up as an example of a beleaguered victim?

Crikey, that's a plaintive cry of howling stupidity if ever I read one.

terryleather · 15/10/2019 15:49

I think the wolf was probably here just to goad the now infamous vipers of FWR so they can show off to their pals about how brave and stunning they are to take us on in our viper pit.

"Bless" and " yawn".

Findumdum1 · 15/10/2019 16:03

Don't worry women :):):):)

He lost it a bit with the disablist c word though didn't he? Back to 6th form debating society you go Venus.

LangCleg · 15/10/2019 16:28

Oh, I missed all the fun! Russnfussn.

Can I just say that being mis-classed offends my pleb sensibilities no end? It's denying my existence and literal fucking violence.

OhIKnew · 15/10/2019 16:57

Maybe they were saying that transwomen experience the same as women do from men.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 15/10/2019 17:04

Maybe they were saying that transwomen experience the same as women do from men.

No they certainly weren't saying that, see this post:

It wasn't the 'male' trans woman causing trouble. It was the very respectable white young men. And MN is I'm sure a very respectable hot bed of white middle class women.

It's clear women are the problem.

OhIKnew · 15/10/2019 17:05

Just on the shearing sheep thing, as far as I know, you can be fined for not shearing your sheep in hot weather. Don't quote me on that.

I'll refer you to page 13 of this document

You realise that was a horror movie trope right, like part of a joke?

OhIKnew · 15/10/2019 17:10

Nope, didn't get the joke.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 15/10/2019 17:15

Can sheep bay? I’d have thought the sheep analogy was the opposite of baying. Sheep just go along with things don’t they? When did you ever see a flock of sheep baying for blood of the farmers who mercilessly de-wool them?

zebrasdontwearbras · 15/10/2019 17:27

Maybe they were saying that transwomen experience the same as women do from men.

TRAs do say that. Whilst women have been fighting for liberation and equality for the past century - first the vote, then the liberation movement of the 60s - they were fighting against male oppression.

Now, TRAs come and tell women that they are the oppressors - because they are "cis" and women are oppressing transwomen. "Die cis scum" is a frequent message on twitter and real life marches - often depicted on barbed-wire baseball bats, carried by young males who may or may not identify as women.

So - if Venus wants to compare the debate on trans rights with another minority rights debate - then this would be a comparable situation: A white person feels that they should have been born black, because they like, say, reggae and dreadlocks - so they identify as black, and then demanding places on BAME scholarships/awards etc, and lecture black people about having privilege for being born black.

zebrasdontwearbras · 15/10/2019 17:47

@LifeonVenus if you're reading, I see you have a 5r old daughter.

I want you to honestly think about a scenario where your DD excelled at sport. Eg. running. Sports are generally segregated into male and female categories at around puberty - because the boys develop tremendous physical strength and other physical advantages - such as larger heart and lungs, greater height and so on, at puberty.

Scholarships/places on high profile sports teams are available for the best performing girls.

Are you honestly saying you wouldn't mind if your dd lost her place to a 15yr old male, who identifies as a female - despite having all those physical advantages of a male puberty?

Would you honestly be happy with that 15yr old male(who identifies as a female) changing and showering with your DD?

Because this is happening now. www.cbsnews.com/news/connecticut-transgender-athletes-face-federal-discrimination-complaint-from-females-over-title-ix-violations/

zebrasdontwearbras · 15/10/2019 17:48

Sorry, typo - Venus has a 15yr old daughter.

Zoflora would never boycott MN.
Who else would buy their products?
Also, they get free advertising here.

zebrasdontwearbras · 15/10/2019 19:16

Also a zoflora convert, thanks to MNetters Wink

terryleather · 15/10/2019 19:53

I was also radicalised to the joys of Zoflora by MN...and I am not ashamed!

Smallblanket · 16/10/2019 09:59

I have never heard of Zoflora (despite being regularly on MN) - have just looked it up and might give it a go!
