But why is everyone so fucking academic on this board?

I can't engage with anything or anyone. Who is going to stand up for ordinary women if specialist knowledge is required even in a thread about safe spaces?

It's so depressing.

I get jumped on for being disingenuous or some such and I know there's good reason to suspect trolls here but it still gets old. This will be probably be pulled but it was asking if I was being snarky after I failed to understand something a few times. No, I'm just really that thick apparently.

Possibly it's had a good result because I've deactivated my Twitter account lest I make a fool of myself among feminists who know me IRL.

Don't worry about it. It's not you, as such, it's just the way that this board has been targeted over and over by those who are not posting in good faith, those who are after screenshots to paint the board in a bad light and those who are targeting regular posters in an attempt to get them banned. Makes people lack trust. I think this is understandable. Don't take it personally.

Yep, I don't know if you've seen my reply to you, but we clearly just bumped heads at the wrong time for both of us. You're fine, I've just had an extremely stressful day and was a bit hair trigger and misread your posts as snarky. It happens, sadly, because a) I'm human and fuck up and b) snarky trolling is a feature here and it can create hyper vigilance which isn't nice for anyone.

So, please, accept my unqualified apology for being an arsehole. But well done for deleting Twitter. It's a time sucking hell hole of nonce apologism and misogyny, you're better off without it.

AutumnRose1 honestly there's times I feel I can't match the intelligence or viewpoints here. I'm often posting while juggling kids and breastfeeding and my brain is mashed, especially as thing 2 isn't sleeping and I'm a bit hypothyroid at the mo. Plus fucking work.

As with texts, it's sometimes hard to 'read' a post and that's when wires get crossed. We have innumerable goady posts here and many of us have learnt the hard way to be sharp if we sense anything, which means we are probably sometimes being a bit quick to assume the worst.

I've started to dip a tentative toe having read a lot of FWR threads over many months so I'm worried about appearing ignorant or goady, but today I've just read in the comments section of a Times article some of my very own words posted here - someone has copied and pasted my words! I've arrived!

But as others are saying, once you've seen the regular faux-naive, wide-eyed "explain it to me" posts hoping to elicit content for screengrabs, you become weary and wary of "I don't understand..." posts. But keep in reading and you will understand!
