They seemingly commissioned two articles showing both sides of the issue and then backed down withdrawing both.

Sarah Ditum's article was outlining the issues of gender neutral loos.

So very true! Scratch the surface of a so-called progressive and often out it comes. Deep deep down many men, not all and I'm not saying most, but many men simply don't see us as equals and cannot stand it when we don't demur to them.

By the way speaking of Frances Barber did you see her tweet about women in her play getting (forgive me) pee all over their long dresses and trains because they were forced to share loos with the men. She said Edward Fox was a true mensch. Stood up for them. Insisted on TWO loos, one of for women and one for men. He kept changing the signs and they kept taking them down! But he stood his ground. She said he's a real gentleman. (This is all on her Twitter feed).
