They seemingly commissioned two articles showing both sides of the issue and then backed down withdrawing both.

Sarah Ditum's article was outlining the issues of gender neutral loos.

Cowards.

Speaking of bullies, Edward Lord very unhappy that the BBC is allowing Sarah to speak about issues that affect women.

twitter.com/edwardlord/status/1181481042668146688

"@BBCr4today why did you, yet again, host a transphobic ‘gender critical’ activist on your programme this morning? Sarah Ditum is notorious for writing articles which undermine the legal rights of trans people in the Equality Act and deny the legitimacy of trans identities".

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/10/2019 13:35

That other article... words fail.

Boils down to poor trans people. poor poor poor trans people. Awww trans people. Yes ok women have a few issues that we should probably look at like their human right to safety/religious freedom but how awfully horribly rotten of women to not put trans people before everything else because pooooooooor trans people.

The only actual point that wasn't special pleading was that there are probably ways to sort toilets that meet everyones needs, but she wasn't honest about the fact that the TRA lobby see the unconditional submission and surrender of women and all women's spaces as the one and only goal. The TRA lobby DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WOMEN. OR EXCLUDING WOMEN. THEY HONESTLY DONT GIVE A FUCK.

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/10/2019 13:39

Sarah Ditum is notorious for writing articles which point out the legal undermining of the rights of women despite and against the Equality Act and describing the actions of a group who deny the legitimacy of women's identity as a sex class and wish to remove from them all sex based protections.

Fixed that for you Eddy.

How bloody naughty of her. Wretched women who won't centre penises at all times and get under the bus like good girls without complaint.

Fuck off. And then fuck off some more you ridiculous man.

Popchyk · 08/10/2019 13:51

Tim Minchin wades in with his 'it really doesn't affect me so STFU" take'.

twitter.com/timminchin/status/1181245997906825217

RoyalCorgi · 08/10/2019 13:56

Ah, Tim Minchin. Another supposedly progressive man who doesn't give a shit about women. You only have to scratch these woke men to find a deep-dyed misogynist, don't you?

Ereshkigal · 08/10/2019 14:01

I've never liked him. Smug twat.

TruthOnTrial · 08/10/2019 14:31

More lies and defrauding funders.

How many women would be contributing if they advertised what the money was actually going to be used for? Or men, for that matter.

Yes, absolutely widen access, but don't lie for defraud funders out of their funds for your underhand carry ons

Now hearing tim MINCHIN talk this way, will be avoiding in future.. I don't care how much he extols his own philanthropic givings so unashamedly, he's lied too in his twitter, yet accuses others.

They said they would double womens toilet facilities.

Liars all. Shall be avoiding liars and defrauders.

SecondRow · 08/10/2019 14:51

Ugh, worse than smug. Thinks he knows better than Sarah Ditum or Caroline Criado Perez whether they really give a fig about anything.
Clearly women aren't the kind of "patrons" he has in mind.

Barracker · 08/10/2019 16:59

I am gutted about Tim Minchin.

I thought he would get it.

TemporaryPermanent · 08/10/2019 17:16

I'm not going to boycott Tim Minchin! He's never been THAT feminist. Not bothered, he's incredibly talented and I'm not going to deny myself his art just because he has that smug sceptic streak.

TruthOnTrial · 08/10/2019 17:30

I guess it all comes down to principles and actually applying pressure to effect change.

stillathing · 08/10/2019 17:44

He's really talented. I always had my suspicions that he didn't get it though. That song about supporting feminism where he breaks into a chorus of loving boobs, like it is some guilty secret? Really annoys me - why wouldn't a straight man love boobs? How's it incompatible with being an ally? Really getting it would be understanding that women have agency over their own desires too. That, say, women might really love dicks/chests/legs whatever in a man? It's just our desires are rarely portrayed.

Procrastinator2 · 08/10/2019 17:47

I hope Sarah Ditum sues.

IsadoraQuagmire · 08/10/2019 18:46

No idea who Tim Minchin is, but he appears to be a total wanker...

Annasgirl · 08/10/2019 19:50

Actress Frances Barber said "Suffragettes threw themselves under race horses to get us the Vote. Now we aren’t even allowed to go to the loo".

I hope she plans to lock herself away in a remote place, she will be hounded out of theatre land for this.

Kilbranan · 08/10/2019 19:56

I think Frances Barber has posted gc stuff before
Tim minchin tweets seem to have disappeared though...

Comefromaway · 08/10/2019 20:00

Isadora - he’s a singer/comedian who also wrote Matilda the musical.

IsadoraQuagmire · 08/10/2019 20:36

comefromaway (excellent choice of user name!) Thanks, I haven't seen Matilda the musical, only the film.

IsadoraQuagmire · 08/10/2019 20:38

I do love Frances Barber! I'm glad to know she's sensible, as well as being talented and beautifulSmile

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 08/10/2019 20:45

Tim Minchin has now tweeted (somewhat reluctantly it seems but in reply to lots of questions about his views) "I'm a yes on female-only toilets, and I gave my feedback to the theatre yesterday". Hooray! (Sorry, can't link atm).

stillathing · 08/10/2019 21:07

Wow I stand somewhat corrected!

TruthOnTrial · 08/10/2019 21:36

Well thats one. Every one counts, especially as a contributor to the company.

Actress Frances Barber said "Suffragettes threw themselves under race horses to get us the Vote. Now we aren’t even allowed to go to the loo

Now we're expected to throw ourselves under buses and be happy about it! Or get callled bigots and transphobes if we speak out! Confused

Fraggling · 08/10/2019 22:11

The older I get the more I realise

That no matter what politics, look, insterests etc a man has

Very few of them really see women as full people in the same way they do men

Men are allowed nuance, range, contradiction etc

Women are formed of 2d stereotypes.

Most men seem to genuinely struggle with women who do not confirm to a type or label they have in their head.

Over and over and over I have met men I thought were nice, I thought liked me as a person, I thought knew me and wanted to know me,

Only to find out that really all they wanted s to get into my knickers, or they would say something that revealed that although they seemed to listen etc when push came to shove they would reach for stereotypes. Or day something about another women or woman that made me realise they saw me as an exception. An honororary bloke. Then they'd still try to get off with me when they were pissed.

All in all, the older I get, the more I realise that many men, whether they realise it or not, have a misogyny problem.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the men I have known who seemed to genuinely see me as a person first and a woman /girl second.

Anyway.

Anyone got a link to Tim having a think. His original tweets are gone. Any screenshot? What did he say?

He's a blokey bloke though really isn't he, under the hair and makeup.

Novia · 08/10/2019 22:38

Actually really disappointed by Timmy's comments!

I'm generally a lurker here and on Twitter but was actually incensed enough to tweet on this. Then the bloody coward deleted his tweets when it became clear he wasn't getting the rapturous response he expected.

It basically boiled down to telling us ladies that we shouldn't worry our pretty heads about ladies loos when we should be admiring the new mirrors and remodelling instead.

He had absolutely zero empathy for the stories and experiences that were shared by women... Then he got snippy and defensive and by the end seemed wholely unlikeable.

TruthOnTrial · 08/10/2019 22:59

He saved face, I would say but didn't from what I saw

I mean, he's tried to save himself from further criticism in defence of defrauding the public's funding of the old vic. Damage limitation exercise.
