He was wearing make up and earrings and presumably ‘identifies’ as a woman. There were unisex portaloos available. I felt so violated but did nothing. What should I have done?

You should take goady posts elsewhere.

WTCT · 06/10/2019 17:07

0/10

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2019 17:12

You should have tried harder.

LangCleg · 06/10/2019 17:18

LOL.

Duvetday8 · 06/10/2019 17:21

I'm impressed someone was running in makeup and earrings 🤔

randomsabreuse · 06/10/2019 17:25

Clearly certifiable - the queues for the Ladies are usually about 10x the ones for the gents'

Biscuit
jessicama · 06/10/2019 17:28

Haha, I literally scrolled down to say the same @Duvetday8 !

You're lucky to get any loo at a race (presuming we're talking running)

VickyEadieofThigh · 06/10/2019 17:29

Here for the ratio.

Oops, that's Twitter, isn't it?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/10/2019 17:30

Asked him for tips about his fave mascara for running races in?

iklboo · 06/10/2019 17:32

Violated? Did he come into the portaloo you were in?

Thethingswedoforlove · 06/10/2019 17:35

This is actually true. It was a 10k run. We england. There are reasons I felt violated from my own history. I am so surprised that people don’t believe me. I haven’t encountered it before. Genuinely. I haven’t a history of goody posts or posting on this subject at all. But it do have a history of posting. It is 100% genuinely true. I was wondering what others might have done.

I used the women’s loos in the golf club where the race hq was rather than the portaloos as was told about the other loos by someone trying to help manage the loo queues. There were also men’s loos at the venue inside the gold club.

Thethingswedoforlove · 06/10/2019 17:37

Tried harder at what therights?

Not a word of untruth or exaggeration in my post. Happy to name the run.

I wonder if he raced for a ladies time?

ChickenPieBumFace · 06/10/2019 17:48

I get what you are asking OP. I feel strongly about women's spaces being for women. But I wonder if I would actually say anything if a male entered the female toilets, regardless of their gender presentation. I would be too scared. And that's part of the problem isn't it. Women conditioned to be afraid of men, even when they are pretending to be women. But I would be mad with myself afterwards for not saying anything

kristallen · 06/10/2019 17:50

OP I don't know. I guess say "Excuse me the gents are over there" but then you never know if this man is a Ma'am and you're at physical risk. And that fear, of course, is what they trade on.

Would also be interested in knowing if he raced as a woman.

Yeahnahyeah · 06/10/2019 17:54

Way to slam a concerned woman, posters. Did her post not pass your 'sophistication' test or something?

Do you also react this way if say a Muslim woman posts her concerns on this matter?

Yeahnahyeah · 06/10/2019 17:55

OP, the thing is, there is nothing you could have done. This is where we are at. I'm sorry you felt this way.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/10/2019 18:00

Well there is a bit of twitter baiting going on around these parts.

So I guess in response to the OP - don’t say anything but get out fast, or say something and potentially get a mouthful of abuse or punch on the nose (or both).

Sadly that’s the choices these days.

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2019 18:06

There is a lot of baiting OP. Sometimes this is then followed up with women criticised for keeping our guard up and other non related accusations thrown in.

I was at a musical festival this summer. A man used the women's portaloo next to me in the women's area, when the men's area was only round the side.

This was in the wake of the Costa Coffee spy camera (where a man planted a camera to film women).

I didn't say anything. Why? Im 5ft and he was built like a brick shit house.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 06/10/2019 18:12

I think these days people just like to see how the thread goes before giving an opinion. There is a fair amount of ‘watching’ going on then the flying monkeys descend...

OhHolyJesus · 06/10/2019 18:12

I hope we can call this behaviour out but I guess the portaloos are fully enclosed and so it doesn't break any laws but we all know he used the ladies for validation.

I think the only thing you can do OP is complain to the organisers just to make sure they are aware, and then find a loo you feel comfortable using. It shouldn't have come to this, but for now at least, it has.

If you feel you can follow up and write a letter you should.

Thethingswedoforlove · 06/10/2019 18:16

Thanks to the posters who showed me some compassion. The issue was that it wasn’t the portaloos which he used. We had been sent inside the golf clubhouse and they were not so enclosed. I won’t make that mistake again and will continue to queue for a portaloo. Which were for everyone. I am relieved to hear that there was nothing I could have done. I was scared and intimidated.
