Ok, for the dimwitted.
Courtenay said this:
"You watch...one of them will turn that into something like "oh look, the happy hooker called us stupid". A primary school level of understanding knows that's not true. But that's literally the level our industry puts up with."
There is no primary school level of understanding of the industry. There is no discussion of the sex industry at primary school level. So what do you actually mean by this, Courtenay? That people are expressing analysis of sexual exploitation of "girls" and women at a level that knows nothing about sex or sexual arousal? That we can somehow be adults and mothers on mumsnet but have the same level of knowledge of sex and sexuality as pre teens, ie next to nothing? You make no sense.
Again at 12, and I was quoting a PP, no parent is going to be advising a 12 year old girl that selling sex and sexual acts is empowering as a career choice unless they are seriously sociopathic and dangerous. I can't believe I am writing this down on mumsnet.
Finally, the picture of the protesters upthread wanting to continue to show their genitals to men for money in high risk environments who don't look much over 18, which minimum age I expect regulations in this country require (but not in Russia) are still too young in my mind to be able to make an informed judgement on what is empowering and what isn't. The industry depends on easily exploited and manipulated young people. And having seen with my own eyes how young the girls are when there is no age regulation to stop this, no one can tell me otherwise.
