I’m in some ways on the fence on trans issues, but I’m saddened that something as ubiquitous as cancer which really can strike any one of us could be met with glee.

Condolences to her family. A bright articulate young woman gone too soon.

I know that mumsnet doesn't approve of dredging old threads, but I hope this is a reasonable exception.

Firstly, I want to ask who is there out there similar to Magdalen Berns today makings vids as to the point as hers? She had a wonderful way with words.

Secondly, I never even knew she existed when she was alive. And I don't much go in for getting sad about the deaths of people I don't know. I can think of few exceptions apart from a couple of indie singer songwriters whose songs meant loads to me when I was 17... but every time one of her vids comes up as a suggested view on youtube it really affects me. I wish she were around today, fighting the fight and putting out content.

Ah, there's nobody like Magdalen. She was a one-off.

I love this video with Magdalen and Kelly J - totally not performing "Posie Parker" and just being herself. It really shows me that the sheros of this fight are just ordinary women, showing extraordinary courage.

If you've only seen Magdalen's own videos, here's a fantastic piece of her live, unprompted and unscripted - I expect most here haven't seen this.

It's a meeting from Bristol in 2018, with other familiar faces on the panel. The protests surrounding the meeting were part of the "Trans Kids: It's Time To Talk" documentary that Stella O'Malley did for Channel 4. (That I still haven't got around to watching).

During the discussion at the end, someone asks about advice on how to deal with student unions trying to no-platform "TERFs".

A voice comes up from the back from the bar, and a certain feminist from Edinburgh is dragged (drunk) up to the mic:
