A shining light of a woman has gone. We'll miss her

CoolCarrie · 13/09/2019 13:14

Very sad news, far too young, an amazing woman. I hope it is some comfort to her family and friends that they know how highly many, many women thought of Magdalen.

thornyhousewife · 13/09/2019 13:24

Rest in power, sister.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/09/2019 13:30

She told us to be brave.

I will try to be more brave like Magdalen

WonderWomansSpin · 13/09/2019 13:35

RIP Magdalen.
Even though it was expected, I was so sad to read this news this morning. I'm glad we were able to send her messages in the last few weeks and that she knew the difference she had made to so many. She was fearless and funny and smart, and it's tragic that she's no longer here.

SisterWendyBuckett · 13/09/2019 13:49

She was a star that shone so brightly. Her light will live on in all of us.

Twunk · 13/09/2019 13:56

Much love to those that knew her. She will never be forgotten ♥️

Hopesorfears · 13/09/2019 14:03

I'm very sad to see this. She had such a positive impact in such a short life. Thinking of her friends and family at this time Flowers

DocMarteens · 13/09/2019 14:05

Sad to hear this. She was a one in a million. Much shorter life than she deserved.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 13/09/2019 14:18

I've been checking for this news several times a day for a while now. It was clearly imminent, but however much you're braced for such news it's still hard to accept.

She was an amazing woman. A star in the feminist heavens. I shall make myself do things that scare me in memory of Magdalen fucking Berns. She's left an impressive legacy for one so young.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 13/09/2019 14:20

Flowers for her friends and family. this is very sad news

DeRigueurMortis · 13/09/2019 14:25

Such an inspiration. She changed my life. My thoughts are with her family, they must be so damn proud of her.
Love you Magdalen.

2BthatUnnoticed · 13/09/2019 14:29

What an amazing woman. In a world where many privileged women are pressuring the rest of us to “be nice,” and put ourselves last... Magdalen put girls and women, including lesbians, first. Thank you Magdalen, and love to your family and friends 💚💜

NotTerfNorCis · 13/09/2019 14:45

Poor Magdalen. Life is cruel.

Rocaille · 13/09/2019 14:49

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. Sending love to Magdalen's family at this terrible time.

RoyalCorgi · 13/09/2019 14:54

Some nice tributes to her on Twitter. We must honour her memory by redoubling our efforts to protect women's and girls' rights to single-sex spaces.

stumbledin · 13/09/2019 14:55

RIP from Australia. You gave me such courage, humour and inspiration and you always will.

Rhynswynd · 13/09/2019 15:02

I can't normally cry but I shed some tears over this news. I am so sorry, to all those who knew and loved her, for your loss.

Tyrotoxicity · 13/09/2019 15:08

I was raised an atheist so I don't have a holy book to look for comfort in at times like these. So I turn to other books.

"No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away [...] The span of someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence."

Magdalen's ripples will last a long, long time. My thoughts are with those who knew and loved her. We will never stop agitating the waters, lest her ripples fade away. Flowers

Lumisade · 13/09/2019 15:22

I knew Magdalen when I lived in Edinburgh, I feel so lucky to have known her. She brightened my day every time I got to see her. She was an awesome force and so interested and knowledgeable in so many areas; physics, fitness, boxing, Scottish independence, to name but a few.... I'll miss her and smile every time I think of her.

BlooperReel · 13/09/2019 15:40

Such a huge lost to feminism, a strident, forceful advicate for lesbians in a time their right to self determine their sexuality is under such pressure and manipulation.

She will be missed by so many x

NKFell · 13/09/2019 16:04

Flowers So sorry to her family & friends.

Sexnotgender · 13/09/2019 16:06

Terribly sad news despite everyone knowing it was coming.
My deepest condolences to her family and friends at this awful time Flowers
