BBC article about a murderer who now "identifies as female"

Despite mentioning halfway through the article that he "now identifies as female", the article (quite rightly) uses male pronouns throughout.

Is this because he's a convicted murderer? Or because the transition (such as it is) is very recent? Or because there are no photos of him dressed as a woman? I'm guessing the BBC have a policy on this so they can't be accused of transphobia or misgendering?

I'd be interested to know what others think Smile

This is being done so as to distance this person in the minds of the public to that of the other Trans people in recent stories.

It's part of social conditioning; this is 'bad', so real biology is used, and the trans connection is very, very fleeting. When it's a good story trans identity is reinforced many times throughout. It trains the readers brain.

There's another thread on this

That makes perfect sense. Thanks.

This woman is stunning and brave and the BBC’s misgendering of her is no better than the crimes she committed when she was probably suicidal from literal violence.

Thanks ErrolTheDragon - I did look through recent Feminism threads but somehow missed that one. I'll have a read now.
