Male nurse abuses a vulnerable woman’s body with impunity

Absolutely horrified at this story:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7413803/Male-nurse-58-treated-patients-vagina-like-puppet-staff-KEEPS-hospital-job.html

Horrified, first that he did it. Then that he appears to have used his sexual orientation to absolve himself of wrong-doing. Third, that his superiors seem to think he is fit to carry on working with patients. How the fuck has he not been struck off?

Fuck this shit. I’m furious. I don’t care if you’re gay, wearing lipstick with your beard, or whatever new form of male “oppression” these misogynists are going to come up with next. I don’t want a single unknown MALE near me when I’m sick, vulnerable, naked, etc. Even being accompanied by other professionals doesn’t seem to stop their gross entitlement, hatred for women, and disrespect for our bodies.

His sexual orientation is irrelevant, it's just power and control.

Sick fuck, and clearing him to continue to work with vulnerable women? Immoral, disgusting and shows a sheer lack of integrity towards patients.

He didn't even turn up to the hearing to plead his case, they decided this in his absence.

What more does a nurse need to do to be struck off? He was convicted in a court of law so absolutely no doubt about his actions.

DarkcafeDetroit68 · 01/09/2019 01:13

No. No.No.

Woman hating evil man.

Being gay does not make his behavior ok.

I'm astounded.

No men in women's spaces. No men performing intimate care on women.

No more.

SarahTancredi · 01/09/2019 11:44

So patients are often left needing the toilet for hours, waiting for medications and often in hospital there is no one to even help the elderly and/or frail to eat their food so they often go hungry to, due to overworked staff and there not being enough of them, yet miraculously there are staff to follow around guys like this so they arent left alone with patients and always have someone to supervise them?

Seriously?

If they cant be trusted then get rid. Preferably to prison.

hipsterfun · 01/09/2019 12:25

This man’s actions, and the fact that a tougher line wasn’t taken, make me feel afraid to put myself in the care of health professionals. And afraid for all patients, especially the most vulnerable ones.

It’s likely that I’ll need to do so in the coming months.

monasticrabbit · 01/09/2019 12:28

sounds really terrible

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/09/2019 13:49

This man should be imprisoned for this

Yes. He should have been arrested. Is it too late?

AssortedPhenomena · 01/09/2019 14:05

This is absolutely horrific. I have no words.

Dangerfloof · 01/09/2019 14:10

Got current job without disclosing criminal conviction and circumstances of leaving previous job
The current employer knows about his previous behaviour. It states as much in the main piece

Dangerfloof · 01/09/2019 14:17

yet miraculously there are staff to follow around guys like this so they arent left alone with patients and always have someone to supervise them
Having worked in the NHS for years (I dont now, cant take the pressure) there will often not be enough staff to cover a shift properly. So little chance this nurse will always or even often be chaperoned.
And if he did this in front of witnesses, what has he done previously when no one was looking. These things escalate to where they dont care there are witnesses or the thrill of getting away with it is heightened with witnesses.
Despicable.

Gingerkittykat · 01/09/2019 14:23

Yes. He should have been arrested. Is it too late?

He was both arrested and convicted of maltreatment, not seen as sexually motivated. That is exactly why the NMC decision is so wrong.

Gingernaut · 01/09/2019 14:25

He was arrested.

He was prosecuted.

He was convicted.

The article doesn't state what the sentence was, but I'm guessing some sort of suspended sentence.

There is an NMC fitness to practice hearing to go.

With understaffed wards, this cunt is a liability who'll simply slow down the management of a ward as he requires a chaperone and supervision.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 01/09/2019 16:14

Fucking hell. Sorry, I must have missed the bit about being arrested, prosecuted and convicted yet still being allowed to carry out intimate care unsupervised. Fucking fuck.

DisenfranchisedVoter · 01/09/2019 17:16

I cannot understand why the NMC feels this man should be allowed to continue to provide intimate card for women. He should be struck off.

MoobaaMoobaa · 01/09/2019 17:42

isn't it alway about the male perpetrator and not about the victim in our society though.

I don't know if I'll be able to explain this very well.

it's never about the victim, only about what the perpetrator was thinking at the time.

like the man who 'fell' into his victim.

like the ones who murder a woman by strangulation.

The victims out comes are reality.
sexual assaulted
Raped
Murdered

But the legal system doesn't use that as a starting point. Instead it's starting point is what were the perpetrators intentions. Which then turns the victims reality into.
assault
accidently got a dick stuck in her
dirty kinky sex game gone wrong, Oops.

managedmis · 01/09/2019 17:46

Why would his sexuality make a difference?

MoobaaMoobaa · 01/09/2019 17:53

managedmis because it's always about the men perpetrators and not the victims.

It doesn't matter the it was the victim's sexual areas that were assaulted, because obviously it now boils down to whether the perpetrator intended it to do.

Men are central, victims are the side show

Voice0fReason · 01/09/2019 20:49

It is directly because of this case - him and the actions of the NMC, that I will never allow a male HCP to examine me intimately.
It's an utter disgrace.

Tiredmum100 · 01/09/2019 21:06

I read this yesterday. This made me feel physically sick. Sexual orientation doesn't matter. He took away somebody's dignity! I think the NMC as wrong in this case. He should be removed from the register. Absolutely disgusting. The poor lady, not only is she experiencing symptoms and unwell, but vulnerable, naked and on display to 4 other people and he did that!!

Tyrotoxicity · 01/09/2019 21:06

It was argued that because he was gay, the assault wasn't sexually motivated?

This makes me furious. The implication is that whether sexual violence is acceptable, forgivable, forgettable or not, is determined by unverifiable words and beliefs in the perpetrator's head.

Cf "reasonable belief in consent" in rape trials.

It is fucking sickening.

What makes it worse is that he had no insight into why what he'd done was so terrible

That lack of insight is what happens when an entire society constructs its values and legal systems etc around the principle that the perpetrator's intent mitigates or exacerbates the psychological damage experienced by the victim.

WhatNowDH · 01/09/2019 21:09

Fuck me. Reading that article just made me cry. The absolute, total fucker. I hate this country.

LatteLove · 01/09/2019 21:10

This makes me furious. The implication is that whether sexual violence is acceptable, forgivable, forgettable or not, is determined by unverifiable words and beliefs in the perpetrator's head.

This. It’s like the violation of a vulnerable woman’s body is only actually worth bothering about if the perpetrator gets off on it. Awful!

MoobaaMoobaa · 01/09/2019 21:22

Thank you Tyrotoxicity

I was trying(badly) to say that.
