Casualty- anyone watching?

Just tuned in and part of story line is about a TW and their wife - TW almost drowns, wife saves them and then gets all GC when they arrive in casualty.

Fascinated to see how this pans out particularly considering some of the clear arguments that the wife outlined. Guessing as it's the BBC it will end up being totally woke

I am, I'm about 15min behind though on catchup.

sweetkitty · 03/08/2019 20:55

Very interesting

tothefareast80 · 03/08/2019 21:11

Interesting that the writers showers people falling over themselves to say the right thing and apologise for their mistakes I.e. he not she.

Am watching but am distracting by the appalling acting and the grossly simplified storylines

LatteLove · 03/08/2019 21:18

Yes, just started though.

Subtitles when TW had the asthma attack in the pool “she gasps” Hmm

tothefareast80 · 03/08/2019 21:22

I agree Swedish. Haven't watched it in about eight years and it hasn't got any better in that time

sweetkitty · 03/08/2019 21:29

All cosy on the end wife accepts her as a woman and they all love happily ever after Hmm

FannyCann · 03/08/2019 21:29

Can't remember when I last watched but Charlie is a LOT older. Confused

Liked how he had a little yawn as the TW started explaining all his problems...

I think I'm behind the rest of you. Got a horrible feeling that the wife will be led to see the error of her ways and it will be happy ever after. Who's a gambler? Ginbet!

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 03/08/2019 21:35

Had to restrain myself from kicking the telly over. Of course it was all about the TW and what the TW wanted (notice they said they were entitled to use the pool), and the wife was portayed as a ranty harridan. The writers ought to have a look at the transwidow thread on here.

LatteLove · 03/08/2019 21:37

🤬

LatteLove · 03/08/2019 21:38

At least it’s getting some GC points out there that maybe some people might think about, like this board did for me.

Jupiter13 · 03/08/2019 21:51

Didn't realize that rubbish was still on TV.

FannyCann · 03/08/2019 21:53

Side issue - anyone know where that pool is ? It looks great, old fashioned lido with fab views!

user1471463807 · 03/08/2019 21:59

It’s Pontypridd Lido!
Totally agree with all the points above, and I had the subtitles too.

LittleCandle · 03/08/2019 22:07

I'm so annoyed by the story line. We had guessed what would happen at the end, too. But the BBC are too scared to let the woman tell the TW to fuck off, as they were not the child's mother. Absolutely shocking!

NotTerfNorCis · 03/08/2019 22:20

Oo just started to watch on catchup. Nasty feminist threatening long haired man in water. Not sympathetic at first when he has an asthma attack. Now being quite heroic.

FannyCann · 03/08/2019 22:31

Thanks User - I've just discovered that according to google it is a mere 69 miles and 1 hour 21 minutes away from me. I'm going to take a day trip before the summer is out! I love old fashioned lidos like that. Star

MintedLamb · 03/08/2019 22:43

@FannyCann make sure you book online if you're going to take a trip! They only keep a small number of tickets to sell on the day.

NotTerfNorCis · 03/08/2019 22:52

There's a parallel storyline about a man rejecting his gay son. The message is obvious. The GC wife is as unreasonable as the father.

FannyCann · 03/08/2019 23:01

Oh thanks MintedLamb I'd have been right Angry to arrive and not get in.

Bet the local casualty is a lot less well appointed though Grin No one in our hospital (except maybe the chief executive whose office I haven't had the honour of seeing) has an office to compare with Charlie's!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 03/08/2019 23:12

Very clunky as an episode. He/ she came across awfully in the pool but then we are made to feel like the mum is in the wrong. I guess it’s a storyline they needed to tick off the list ...

FloralBunting · 03/08/2019 23:24

I dont know how anyone can bear these kinds of episodic issue soaps. They have them on daytime telly, too. Hamfisted writing and shoddy acting. I'd rather watch Sunset Beach. At least when you're watching storylines about evil twin brothers or enchanted necklaces that kill people you can overlook the bad writing and acting because it's supposed to be ridiculous.

Sarcelle · 03/08/2019 23:29

Soon as I saw the woman shouting at side of pool I turned over. It was going to be one of those BBC political correct stories they shove down your throat. A lecture rather than entertainment.

GiggleMcDimples · 04/08/2019 00:02

Does that even happen in real life? Because politically wrong as it may be, if my DH started dressing as a woman and talking gender reassignment, I'd be fucking devastated. That would be it for us. We actually had a whole conversation about trans everything. He couldn't believe that they're allowed to change their SEX on their birth certificate. He thought it was just something I'd read that was blowing it out of proportion, but I had to show him the 2004 law and the 2005 ruling stating they could. He actually became angry that it's allowed.

SeaWitchly · 04/08/2019 00:13

Why is the reverse never shown... A husband and wife whereby the wife becomes a transman and now wants to be called their children's father. And the husband is shown the error of his ways and decides he actually can bear to become oart of a same-sex male couple = husband and husband rather than husband and wife Hmm
