Surely the Bathroom Wars is easily solved...

Women (the vulva type), and then All Genders, (with a wall/screened area for urinals, cos let's face it, they are practical but kinda gross).
Surely the number of men who would be offended by non binary/trans in their loo would be far less than women offended by the opposite? (And rightly so).

Women so so obviously need woman specific spaces. (Periods, pervs, etc).

Seriously, share your practical solutions to this debate. What would work? Cos here we are, 2019.
#battle/war.

How can we get across that sticking a label of 'All Genders' on the WOMENS loos and leaving 'mens' alone is so freaking farked?

Agree 100 percent.

Why not commission Mermaids or someone like that, to design a lovely inclusive “gender neutral” sign to go on the (formerly known as) Men’s.

It’s the perfect solution.

Yeahnahyeah · 29/07/2019 05:58

I kind of like the Separate Cubicles solution (note: only floor to ceiling, which proves the whole pervy/cellphone/hidden camera etc problem). Hint: mainly men do that.

But only as a start to a solution.

They don't work practically in that they often involve (especially in 'crowd' situations) narrow waiting areas, having to pass by queues, feelings of entrapment etc.

Is? Are?

I would love and appreciate a grammer expert opinion here.

Grammar? Wink

Yeahnahyeah · 29/07/2019 06:49

Lol yeah, I always get that one wrong. Grammar indeed.Grin

OP posts:
Yeahnahyeah · 29/07/2019 06:52

...but seriously, you pulled me up on the spelling of 'grammar', rather than add your opinion on my debate/argument???

OP posts:

Ok that reply was grumpy. I love you all. I just wanna debate the nuts (Grin) and bolts of it all.

Just loads more new loos everywhere. Loads. Women always have to queue!
So - disabled, just for disabled people, not made into 'all gender' loos. Then a unisex cubicle for any gender. Then men's. Then MASSIVE NEW SHINY CLEAN women's loos. Stick sanpro bins wherever you like, why not in all of them, and baby change in all of them.

In a dream world...

MacaroonMama · 29/07/2019 08:15

And maybe Stonewall could fund these lovely new loos as a gesture of good will...

Babdoc · 29/07/2019 08:19

Sorry, OP, but the TRAs would never accept that. The trans ones want the “validation” of using women’s loos to “prove” that they’re women, and the fetishists and autogynephiles want to invade women’s spaces for their own perverted sexual kicks.
They won’t use a men’s loo, whatever inclusive label you stick on the door. They want ownership of women’s spaces.

donquixotedelamancha · 29/07/2019 08:21

Men have the right to privacy, just as much as women. I agree that this is a safer solution than nicking women's loos but the solution is to use toilets in line with material reality.

This!!!

The solution is simple- everyone comes up with a variation of what you have said. But it's just not good enough.

Agree. I'm thinking ',work arounds' here.
Cos we're losing the battle IMHO.

I also think I’m not the one trying to change the status quo. I’m happy with men going to the gents and women using the ladies

People who want to change that need to come up with constructive suggestions that don’t put women at risk. Mixed sex toilets put women at risk

So come on Stonewall, what’s your plan?

Yeahnahyeah · 29/07/2019 08:53

C'mon you Good Women!!
(Yeah I know it's not up to us,.... But it is; cos it is) 💪
Viva la debate!

Toilets need to be segregated by sex, not gender. Actual biological sex, which is real, as opposed to gender, which is meaningless made-up bollocks.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/07/2019 08:58

We need to get past this idea that how you dress and present yourself has anything to do with what shape your genitals are.

Pipandmum · 29/07/2019 09:03

Penis loo, vagina loo, disabled loos, parent loos (with changing table). Graphics will be interesting...

nettie434 · 29/07/2019 09:13

I totally agree that there could be a solution. Why not an alliance with campaign groups like Changing Places? Sadly, I agree that for some people it’s about access to women’s spaces not about campaigning for improvements for everyone.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 29/07/2019 09:15

we're losing the battle IMHO.

The battle hasn't even started yet, it'll come in a year or two when the public has had enough.

AlwaysComingHome · 29/07/2019 09:17

There is no compromising with people who want nothing less than total surrender.

It has never been about safety or practicality. It has always been about total acceptance of trans ideology.

Here's a long discussion between trans people on Reddit, about how awful and transphobic it is when women have a bathroom of their own. Be warned: it is infuriating to read. They don't like it when the men's bathroom is mixed-sex. It has to be the women's.

Note that they would be happy if ALL bathrooms were mixed-sex. How does that make any sense from any kind of "safety" consideration? This is purely about destroying women's spaces and women's boundaries.

wheresmymojo · 29/07/2019 09:31

Or we convert all toilets to any gender but they are all floor to ceiling cubicles including a wash basin (so no shared area) plus a urinals room with wash basins.

Windygate · 29/07/2019 09:37

I was recently visiting at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, the public toilets are a row of individual cubicles each with a hand wash sink. The accessible toilets are in this row and are larger with the necessary grab rails etc. Seems a reasonable situation.
