www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7290219/Trans-woman-claims-salons-discriminated-against-accused-child-sexual-exploitation.html

I know it's the DM but nice to see it getting some main stream publicity especially because they pick up on JY's very odd tweets about tampons and conversations trying to convince 14yo girls to send them dodgy photos.

No comments yet. They're going to be absolutely priceless, aren't they? 😂

nauticant · 27/07/2019 08:23

Decent enough but it's really missing a paragraph putting this into a broader context:

"Under changes proposed to gender laws in the UK, any individual like Yaniv would legally be a woman in the eyes of the law just on saying he is, and would be free to access the single sex spaces occupied by your mothers, sisters, wives, and children. If the current lobbying to give the UK Canada-style gender laws end up being successful, anyone in the UK objecting to the presence of such an individual because he is male bodied would risk prosecution."

EweSurname · 27/07/2019 08:37

The cbs (Canadian broadcasting corporation) have also picked it up, finally. Although it’s a very sympathetic piece (to Yaniv, of course) with lots of inaccuracies

www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/transgender-woman-human-rights-waxing-1.5227434

HandsOffMyRights · 27/07/2019 08:59

Good. I like the headline. This details JY's other activities.

What I'd also like to see is the media showing the infamous Yaniv bathroom selfie with the young girls in the background, where he tweets about asking if he could help girls insert their Tampons.

AnyOldPrion · 27/07/2019 09:02

Anyone else been thinking about the result?

The Kimberley Nixon case was a travesty, yet it was kept out of the news.

The human rights courts where Yaniv is trying these women decided that Nixon, a male transitioner, had the right to work with raped women who could be traumatised by the presence of male bodies. It was later overturned when it reached the Supreme Court, but there is precedent for the supposed needs of male transitioners to be put ahead of the needs and rights of women in this court.

If that does occur, hopefully we can support the women involved.

Suppression of the Nixon case allowed the nonsense rhetoric to be used that self-ID had caused no problems in the jurisdictions where it was already law during the GRA consultations.

If Yaniv wins, this time the world is watching.

FormerMediocreMale · 27/07/2019 09:15

That poor girl the blokes a pervert getting off on self id and the oportunities it allows him.

Cant wait for this to come to the UK all in the nane of being inclusive and progressive. Angry

Datun · 27/07/2019 09:16

That DM piece will leave the reader in no doubt about Yaniv's motives. None.

And whilst I agree that a paragraph about the UK's proposals would be opportune, when they do eventually report on it, the dot joining will be instant. People coming to these conclusions themselves is more powerful than spoon feeding them.

They even included a Scottish fence sitter, leaping off the fence, to illustrate the point.

Datun · 27/07/2019 09:18

And it's awful how Jessica (the real one) was originally unphased by his perving because she was so used to it from other men.

LizzieSiddal · 27/07/2019 09:24

Yes the article is very clever. They have to tread a very fine line- the press are accused of being 'transphobic', even when reporting facts.

It's quite alarming, though not surprising, that this poor young woman has reported JY to the police, yet hasn't heard anything back from them.

Oh look a man [as they referred to themselves at the time], grooming children online, we even know their identity, yet the police do not give a fuck. Angry

GirlDownUnder · 27/07/2019 09:24

hopefully we can support the women involved there has been a fund set up for the women, this Post Millennial piece has details.

https://www.thepostmillennial.com/fundraiser-launched-for-yaniv-victims/

MN this link is NOT to a go fund me, etc so please don't delete this post. Cheers Smile

GirlDownUnder · 27/07/2019 09:26

unphased by his perving because she was so used to it from other men.

That jumped out at me too. Internet - boom or bane huh.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 27/07/2019 09:29

Yesterday the Mail had a very good article about prisons and today Yaniv. They're evidently fully on board with this now.

nettie434 · 27/07/2019 09:30

Madame Pompadour I think that is a really good article. It’s good to see coverage in mainstream media. I was quite surprised at the comments in on the Hello Canada thread about why mainstream media in Canada were not interested in the case. I know the Daily Mail has a lot of readers in the States and Australia. I don’t know about Canada though

coatlessinspokane · 27/07/2019 09:34

And creepy that he chose Jessica’s name when he transitioned

GlitchStitch · 27/07/2019 09:34

I like how the DM reports on these issues. They lead the reader to the obvious whilst making sure they can't be criticised- so they talk about how other media misgendered 'her', or how refusing to belief TWAW is anti trans, knowing full well their readers will see it all for the bullshit it is.

Isatis · 27/07/2019 09:37

I'm not completely up on the background to this one. Was he specifically searching out salons with female operatives? I wonder how he'd have reacted if they took the booking and offered a transwoman to do the waxing?

nettie434 · 27/07/2019 09:49

Isatis it does seem as if JY went for lone beautician salons, often run by women who had emigrated to Canada. There are also tweets somewhere about not wanting to go to a gym which had an ethnically diverse clientele which seems illuminating in the circumstances. People in the area have said he could easily have found a trans friendly salon with someone experienced in the sort of waxing that was needed.

MadamePompadour · 27/07/2019 10:00

I agree that I think the journalist has been clever by stating the facts quite clearly but not linking it to a wider trans agenda. Like others have said better people join the dots themselves. And they will.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 27/07/2019 10:08

Great article, very detailed. I suspect the comments have been stopped.

GCAcademic · 27/07/2019 10:15

Yes, he sought out female practitioners who were immigrants and worked solo. He had previously tweeted about South Asian immigrants being “dirty”, his mother’s behaviour in the courtroom has also been demonstrably racist (took her shoes off and pointed the soles of her feet at a defendant of South Asian origin).

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 27/07/2019 10:18

I saw somewhere that he called some salons and was accepted but didn't follow through on the appointment. I can't remember where that was for the life of me.
Part of one of the cases was that he was outside of the waxer's area. She gave him part of her address, but not the apartment number,I think, and then cancelled when she started feeling uncomfortable. He then turned up at the complex and started messaging her for the number.
In the court, he made a big thing about needing to travel for hours to get there.
There definitely seems to be a strong current of it being about seeking women who refuse, rather than simply wanting a wax.

**I wrote all that and then realised I've 'misgendered' Yaniv throughout. Cant be bothered to go back and amend everything to JY.
MN, we're not going to get strikes for this one surely?

GirlDownUnder · 27/07/2019 10:27

Info on background, all cases, and links on the thread linked here

Fascinating tweets about JY’s waxing case. Read here. (cont. thread 2)

It's a lot of info, but a quick scan might be helpful if you want to know the background.

KevinKlineSwoon · 27/07/2019 11:00

I find it amazingly ironic that some transgender women behave in such a male way by asserting their power over women. I find the whole attitude completely misogynistic. And I say this as someone who knows a transgender woman.

NotTerfNorCis · 27/07/2019 11:38

This comment:

"The way she was treated was disgusting, the salon owners need to be punished by the government"

Has 161 down votes and not a single up-vote.

Anyone think it might be Yaniv posting?

Mumminmum · 27/07/2019 11:39

I didn't click on the cbc article, as I don't want to encourage newspapers, that are positive towards people like Yaniv, but the daily Mail article was good.
