As Home Secretary, her defence re the Windrush scandal was that she hadn't read the memos, so I fully expect her to let civil servants dictate her stance on self-id.
Another interpretation at the time was that she did not want to say ‘My predecessor did all this and as she is the Prime Minister there wasn’t a lot I could do about it.’
I agree with Alwaystawnyowl that the size of her majority will be what’s most on her mind.
