And I’m glad

Does anyone from the Spectator have Boris's ear? James Kirkup or Rod Liddle

Don't know about those two, but BJ certainly used to a supporter of Andrew Gilligan, and hired him on the Spectator back in the day.

Micaela64 · 24/07/2019 19:14

I suspect Boris does not give a fig about trans issues, and will be content to be guided by Carrie Symonds. I wonder how woke she is? The answer might be 'very'

Boris was highly critical of the police arresting "transphobes" on Twitter:

TimeLady · 24/07/2019 20:23

And Mrs Gove is definitely GC.

I'm hoping Liz Truss gets the job

TBH, I'd be amazed if Dominic Cummings isn't aware that TWAW is a vote loser

LizzieSiddal · 24/07/2019 20:31

Nimco Ali, the fab FGM campaigner, is a very close friend of Carrie Symonds.

This is a tweet from Nimco

I support trans rights and always have. I do not support the silencing or dismissal of the experience of women and Feminist activist. We are not post gender and the 60 million girls at risk of #FGM are why will not be silenced.

Let’s hope her friend Carrie, feels the same!

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/07/2019 20:37

I've been musing that 6 years ago I'd have recoiled in horror at any positive coming from BJ being PM and been delighted at JS being Lib Dem leader.

I'm not overjoyed about Boris but I do suspect he's GC and feel a level of "that's ok then" (bar what ever the fuck else he does.)

Lumene · 24/07/2019 20:37

Penny hasn’t forgotten about the WE GRA political mess she will be glad to have escaped it.

Gavin Williamson replaces Damian Hinds for education Confused

AlwaysComingHome · 24/07/2019 20:43

This is Boris thinking it is outrageous that a woman should be Defence Secretary.

He put one in charge of the Home Office instead.

AlwaysComingHome · 24/07/2019 20:46

If she ever wants to go for PM she’ll have to address the balance of women’s rights openly.

She’ll probably keep her head down till somebody else sorts it out, then make a comeback.

To be honest, if I was a politician I’d be looking to having myself cryogenically frozen until the current clusterfuck is fixed.

Lumene · 24/07/2019 20:50

I agree with you Always.

GlitchStitch · 24/07/2019 20:51

Amber Rudd has been given Women and Equalities.

Micaela64 · 24/07/2019 20:51

Amber Rudd confirmed as Minister for Women and Equalities which she has previously held. She also stays on at Department for Work and Pensions.

dementedma · 24/07/2019 20:55

It was good to see a woman heading up Defence and she was doing a good job. I'm sorry she's gone.

Macareaux · 24/07/2019 20:57

So does Amber know what a woman is?

AutumnCrow · 24/07/2019 20:57

Fuck's sake

Lumene · 24/07/2019 20:58

Wasn’t Amber Rudd in charge when they first kicked off the GRA reforms?

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/07/2019 20:58
AutumnCrow · 24/07/2019 20:59

Amber Rudd is hopeless on women's sex-based rights. If the new PM feels some pushback on her lazy wokey position it will be interesting.

Lumene · 24/07/2019 21:03

I remember a TV news interview with Rudd a while back - was it by Julie Bindel? Where she started rowing back a bit on the GRA total reform.

Popchyk · 24/07/2019 21:12

I actually think that this constant turnover of W&E ministers is a bad thing.

Every new face pitches up not knowing anything about the GRA and its proposed reform, listens gravely to the Stonewall civil servants telling their tales of suicide and erasure of transfolx, and the Minister then goes forth to repeat what the GEO staff have instructed her to say.

Just as the penny (no pun intended) is beginning to drop with these ministers, they get moved on again.

And yet another witless handmaiden enters the fray.

And so it continues.

Unfortunately that was Justine Greening

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/07/2019 21:26

I agree pop.

NeurotrashWarrior · 24/07/2019 21:30

I wonder whether Boris's sister has any sway on him? I'm sure she's GC. And did the stint in the BB house with Willoughby.

I do suspect the GRA won't be self ID. A large number of trans people with genuine GD who relied/ rely on current structures are very much against it and becoming more vocal from what I can gather.

Lumene · 24/07/2019 21:32

Ah thanks Ova
