I haven't read them all, of course, but from what I can tell the 3000 responses to their tweet so far not surprisingly don't seem to be in support of their view.

I’m not sure ‘Trump hates paedophiles’ is as great a campaign strategy as Penis News thinks it is.

So much homophobia in the comments this is what I have been so worried about, that all the prejudice against gay people - gay men in particular - is going to come roaring back as a result. All the campaigning of the last few decades emphasising that gay relationships are about two consenting adults, love is love, marriage equality etc. and rooting out the PIE/Nambla types - it all seems to be going backwards.

Xiao homophobia? Where? I read through comments and didn’t see any homophobia, just a lot of “good” and “about time” and comments about safeguarding children.

Yes 99% of the comments are positive. But I definitely saw homophobic comments too, trying to scroll through many thousands of tweets now...

Didn’t see that tweet (probably didn’t expand enough threads) but did see Mikey D’s tweet and thought it was a good point.

Even if that Mikey D says it’s a good point, it’s still homophobic. The comment below it talks about bestiality and paedophilia as the ‘next thing’ on from accepting gay people. That is really sad. And there are homophobes out there unfortunately.

The problem I think is including a load of other stuff under the LGB umbrella. LGB is about sexual orientation. The only other letter that should be under there is maybe asexuals, but I struggle to understand how trans was ever thought to be appropriate to include under there, let alone all the others. Trans is not a sexual orientation. Intersex is a medical condition and it’s really insulting to those who have it to include them under that umbrella. Queer doesn’t seem to have any real meaning and seems to be used by straight people.

I feel sorry for LGB people who will now be set back decades due to this idiotic insistence that we have to embrace absolutely everything that people have a sexual preference for. No- some things are still harmful and it’s not ‘hate’ to say that.

Yes. It drives me crackers. Being gay is about who you love and want to share your life with. Humans are social animals and want to live in a pair bond.
Being gay is not about sex. It's not the same as a fetish. Its homophobic to imply it is

I can't imagine what PN thinks it's going to achieve by supporting the sexualisation of kids. It's like it thinks it has to defend any kind of sexual behaviour outside the mainstream.

A reminder that homophobia exists, but objecting to kids being groomed and sexualised is not homophobia.

Also 'Love is Love" is really dubious. A campaign poster included that AGE should also be no barrier - and had a depiction of a 34 yr old with a 10 year old.

Zebras i think the age thing was a hoax that someone did where they photoshopped the poster to say 36 and 10 even though the original one said 36 and 72 or something. But scarily, an LGBT Facebook retweeted the image with 10 on it with the caption ‘absolutely- love is love’. It shows how dangerous it is to just blindly accept it.

And I totally agree- being gay is not a fetish. The fact that some gay people have fetishes does not mean that fetishes must automatically be protected. Lots of straight people are into fetishes too and we don’t talk about dragging kids into that. Have seen some idiotic comments from people who seem to think that as soon as you mention LGBT, it automatically negates any potential harm to kids. Which is why they think an 11 year old podium dancer is great but probably wouldn’t think the same if it was an 11 year old girl in a strip club.

Gay or straight, the one thing that those who exploit people (male or female) for sexual gratification tend to have in common is that they are male. You’d never hear of a bunch of lesbians wanting to see a pre-pubescent girl dance in her underwear because sexual abuse by women is very rare and it certainly isn’t out in the open. So maybe the lesson to learn is that being gay doesn’t stop men from being men.

In ye olde days some people would have the horrible and just wrong belief that homosexual men were a danger to children.

Dressing up little boys as drag queens - the only ones I’ve seen have been highly sexualised in their performance and ‘on the scene’ (posing with butt naked adults, photos with dubious characters, money thrown at them in nightclubs, drugs references...). It’s not exactly dampening down the old perception is it?

A bunch of hetero men throwing money at a little girl in a nightclub dancing in a crop too and daisy dukes - how would that look?

Fetish is a particularly type of sexuality which includes gay, straight and bisexual people. Most people aren't fetishists and that includes most gay men too. Why the obfuscation? Who does it serve?

Why does sex come into this? Human rights don’t usually include the right to dress up as a cartoon dog and have sex with a person dressed up as secret squirrel. I believe a human right is NOT to be sexually abused or raped but I could be wrong here...
