Spoiler alert. You won't be surprised.

Sorry about the grammar. I'm too busy cursing.

There was one - I can't find it though. It said almost exactly the same as yours!

Interesting how sympathetic the judge is being towards the defendant, and how apologetic he's been for the delay before sentencing (which is also weird...)

louise5754 · 16/07/2019 12:22

Is she from Sheffield 😬

Not clicked the link as yet.

Here it is!

Nope. No surprise here.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 16/07/2019 12:23

Indeed - so sorry that SYP (who'd have thunk it?) took so long to bring the case to court...

Does anyone have any oversight here?

Nice increase in the women pedo crime statistics adding credence to the 'women do it too' mantra. Hmm

Apollo440 · 16/07/2019 12:25

Needs adding to 'Not Our Crime' database.

NotTerfNorCis · 16/07/2019 12:26

Strange how almost every time we hear about a woman committing offences of this kind, it turns out...

ZebrasAreBras · 16/07/2019 12:32

"She" Hmm

Pronouns are rohypnol. They dull our senses to the danger posed.

I presume this will be recorded in the women's crime statistics? Great.

Reminds me of a tweet I saw: "Historians pondered the sudden spike in female sex offenders in the early 21st century..."

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 16/07/2019 12:43

The GRA 'legal fiction' does not even apply to this person whose legal first name is Anthony. Why then do we all have to engage in this ridiculous and misogynistic pretence?

Babdoc · 16/07/2019 12:46

Presumably this male-bodied sex offender will request to be sent to a women’s prison.
Can women as a class not rise up and refuse to have males included in female crime statistics?
Imagine the uproar if a black convicted criminal wanted the justice system to classify him as a white offender. And why is this appropriation of womanhood any different?

Annasgirl · 16/07/2019 12:49

Well I'm furious over this - I worked in publishing, who in the name of God, thought it was OK for a sub editor to say this was a woman????? I honestly had this weird picture in my head of a woman with loads and loads of child porn photos on a computer in a dingy little house with a really old computer - even I didn't get it until I opened your post, then before even clicking, my brain clicked into gear and I realised this was not a woman. OK ladies, this is the end, where do we campaign for proper descriptions for crimes????

barelove · 16/07/2019 12:53

Officers seized two laptops and a mobile phone from the home of Prince, a transgender woman whose legal forename is Anthony

In total, Prince downloaded 108 Category A images – the most serious legal category, defined as content which shows children being raped, as well as 90 Category B images and 993 Category C images. She also downloaded 53 images of ‘extreme pornography’

Prince pleaded guilty to charges including making indecent images of children; possession of prohibited images of children and possession of extreme pornographic images at an earlier hearing.

I think the MN mods would agree this piece of sht has lost any MN rights to respect and should most definitely be referred to as the vile man* he is.

Goosefoot · 16/07/2019 12:55

yes, it's very misleading.

I am not surprised about the time angle though, its a serious problem and defendants sometimes get off altogether because of too much time elapsed.

RosaWaiting · 16/07/2019 12:58

“Well I'm furious over this - I worked in publishing, who in the name of God, thought it was OK for a sub editor to say this was a woman????”

Well if the court staff are told they have to, then presume the publishers are under the same pressure?

HebeMumsnet · 16/07/2019 12:58

Hi, everyone. It looks like there is a thread on this exact story running concurrently. Link [https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3639261-It-never-happens-Ever here]]. We're going to close this one to new posts just to keep things tidy, really, but we'll leave this one up for a bit so everyone has a chance to find their way to the other thread. Feel free to copy and paste over your posts if you'd like to.

The GRA 'legal fiction' does not even apply to this person

Where is GRC does not exist, UK case law has determined the legal comparator for this male is other males. [That is, the legal comparator is with those of the sex being transitioned from and not the sex aspired to.]

Croft V Royal Mail Group Plc 2003 [paras 70 onward]

These twists are getting a bit predictable...
