Any actual evidence they’re prevented from accessing sexual healthcare? Not sure how self ID helps that. It’s another ‘they’ll die if you don’t do what they want’ angle.

JoyceJeffries · 12/07/2019 06:50

There’s no evidence, just the usual emotional blackmail.

Igneococcus · 12/07/2019 06:58

I think their health would be at much greater risk if vital information about their biological sex would be obscured in their files.

Does anyone know if there’s a reason they haven’t they just started using Transwoman and transman on people’s medical records? That way professionals can address things relating to biological sex without misgendering?
Then feelings and pronouns are adhered too while records remain factual as not to put anyone more at risk?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 12/07/2019 07:05

It's just a non stop whinge fest.

SarahTancredi · 12/07/2019 07:08

How would removal of any medical intervention somehow mean they accessed more medical care. Confused

TurboTeddy · 12/07/2019 07:17

Globally trans women are 49 times more likely to have HIV than the general population, the World Health Organisation has said.

Might be more useful to focus on HIV rates for transwomen in Scotland if you want to make a convincing case.

Forgotthebins · 12/07/2019 07:17

Agree, their point is very unclear. Women know what it's like to get denied contraception by religious healthcare professionals so I can understand what it is like to feel denied and judged and I don't wish that on anybody. But they say nothing that shows why self-id would improve health for their community (as opposed to, say, specialist services). Meanwhile self-id has already been proven to mess up safety in women's prisons where it is effectively already in practice. So even if they are right and self-id is a magic health service wand, then they are at best supporting a policy tool which has had unintended effects for female prisoners and women in refuges, and looking to export a problem to different vulnerable communities, which is just not fair.

Yes. It’s a bit like all the trans charities using global death rates to push through self ID too.

How about some actual relevant stats and evidence.

AlessandraAsteriti · 12/07/2019 07:55

Surely they mean gender health? For the love of God, sexual health is related to our sexual organs. How is somebody self-IDing as a woman when they have a penis going to help their sexual health?

LangCleg · 12/07/2019 08:38

The whole article is absolute nonsense since the NHS, and its records, are already based on self-ID - to the fucking detriment of several trans people's healthcare already and increasing the risk of inappropriate care.

AlwaysComingHome · 12/07/2019 09:13

Well, if you are comparing Brazilian sex-workers with IT workers in the UK there might be a reason for that.

KTara · 12/07/2019 09:44

Yes, I was confused by the point of this article. Are transpeople reluctant to seek sexual health care as they might be misgendered? In which case, recording what is proposed for the census - sex and gender identity - would allow health workers to both correctly assess a person’s needs and address/refer to them as they wish.

However, there may be additional medical issues related to hormone treatments which health workers need to know (no idea if this is the case) which could be garnered from a medical history. Not sure how that is addressed by self-ID though.

The article is not clear at all how the issues are linked.

They have already made sure any dr who doesnt play along gets fired. They have literally got what they want where no mention of their actual sex can ever be referenced to yet somehow its everyone else fault when it inevitably leads to someone being hurt or dying.

Stis dont care what gender you have. If you have a penis you need a condom.

How they cant see they are only hurting themselves here I dont know.

Anyone would think they like being the victim all the time

AbsintheFriends · 12/07/2019 09:54

What an embarrassing jumble of random stats and empty statements for an actual newspaper to print. They might as well have included that the gestation period for an elephant is 22 months and it rains a lot in Manchester.

I was unaware that trans identifying individuals were being denied access to the Sandyford clinic. This is just another, endless, self centred whinge.

I'm more concerned about the rise in HIV cases amongst intravenous drug users in Scotland to be honest. But I guess junkies aren't 'glamorous' enough to be worthy of concern.

NotBadConsidering · 12/07/2019 10:08

That article is actually about sexual disease: STIs, HIV etc, with a bit about contraception as well.

If trans charities are so concerned about sexual health, why is anyone advocating for puberty blockers and cross sex hormones and surgery which result in removal of sexual function and pleasure?

I’m still waiting for a trans charity or TRA to explain to me how is it a good thing that Jazz Jennings has never and will never have an orgasm.

So they can fuck off with their “concern about sexual health”. Angry

Is this true? How can anyone allow that to happen and sleep at night.

Agreed they can absolutely fuck off with their fake concern about sexual health.

Oh that induced a wave of nausea. I have a horrible feeling that these abused children won't enjoy long and happy lives for a variety of very avoidable reasons.

And one that can't challenge anything because they are at the forefront of a million dollar industry, now, which would collapse.

NotBadConsidering · 12/07/2019 10:26

Absolutely. Jazz went on puberty blockers young. This meant the penis, testes and prostate never went through sexual maturation. The testes were then removed, and the prepubertal penis was used to surgically fashion a sinus that will have the fake appearance of a vulva.

In this article which reviews the TV show, Jazz talks openly about no libido. This is a result of the hormones. Jazz’s surgeon (a trans woman) knows that there is an opportunity to give Jazz a chance to have libido but to do so would require stopping hormone therapy. The surgeon decides to proceed with the operation, thus rendering that status permanent. Note the fact that beforehand, Jazz’s surgeon was still unsure how the operation was going to work.

It would be laughable how hypocritical trans activists and “charities” are about “sexual health” if it wasn’t so utterly disgusting when you look at what is actually happening to people like Jazz.
