The Epstein case - how many famous men had sex with young children?

Is anyone else horrified at the men involved in this? I mean I thought having sex with young girls / boys (I mean very young) was a proclivity of a very small number of men (mostly, before any but women do it too people come on to correct me).

Is it that men who succeed in something are so inured to their own invincibility that they think they can get away with anything or is there a correlation between the ruthlessness needed to succeed in these areas and sexual attraction to younger people?

I'm just musing to myself here - but if even half the names mentioned are involved then this really is not a proclivity of a small number of men, it is endemic.

This is going to get messy quickly.

Very messy & very quickly!

bobstersmum · 09/07/2019 12:34

Reading this, although I knew it went on anyway, makes me want to get the hell off this planet with my children. It deeply affects me, so so awful. What can we do about it?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 09/07/2019 12:36

What can we do about it?

Speak out and inform. There's not much else you can do.

Whosorrynow · 09/07/2019 12:38

I think the only thing we can do is keep shining a bright light into the darkness

I mean, how can a woman knowingly traffic young children for sex?

She can't. She can only traffic them for rape.

You can start making a change by stopping to minimise things and using the factual words. Especially after having been called out on this on this thread already.

MockerstheFeManist · 09/07/2019 12:46

HRH with Virginia Roberts who has made accusations about him.

(In the background, Ghislaine Maxwell, a chip off the old block who, er, introduced wealthy gents to the likes of Ms Roberts.)

I agree about the use of language in cases like these - so often reported as having 'sex with a minor' 'engaging in sexual acts with an underage girl/boy'. Really what they mean is raping a child. That's what they have done so why make is sound like anything other than what it is.

NotBadConsidering · 09/07/2019 12:58

The US Attorney General has recused himself from the case because he once worked for a law firm that represented Epstein.

Attorney General Bill Barr. Which has led to this tweet:

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 12:58

Have to mentions Sheila Jeffreys Spinsters book here , because that's where I learned that it was women who fought for the age of consent to be passed in law and that men fought this because the age of consent ran contrary to male interests

This 2011 Mail on Sunday article casts some light on the how if not the why of procurement. Angry
And the paper can't have been too concerned about libel after all, though there are some telling gaps in the story. Some people are in danger of losing their teflon coating.

@brilliotic I appreciate your comments but really I am not minimising this, I am horrified and I started the thread to shine a light. I am just wary of commenting as one poster has already alluded to libel laws and I don't want to be prosecuted for libel. Or have the thread removed.

I hadn't even realised who the woman was until I added 2 plus 2 and remembered her father.

I don’t think it was Sinatra who attacked Natalie Wood, it was allegedly another now very, very old actor who has a famous son who is married to an actress originally from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 .

Babycham1979 · 09/07/2019 13:03

Bear in mind that many women are implicated in this case. Epstein’s ‘little black book’ names two US presidents, numerous senior US politicians and civil servants, famous tycoons, two Israeli PMs, one Royal, a handful of female celebrities and on, and on. Also, the alleged victims were both male and female, all of which goes to suggest this is maybe less a ‘feminist’ issue, than a ‘people’ one.

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 13:05

"Womendoittoo"

Annasgirl · 09/07/2019 13:07

Well I still think it is a feminist issue as they are our children (in the metaphorical sense) they are attacking. And it's not as if the manosphere is going to shine a light on it anytime soon.

...one of the alleged ringleaders and chief abusers is, in fact a ‘model’ from the Former Yugoslavia.

Further implicated are many US security personnel and services, including the CIA and security contractors like Dynacorp. There are links between Epstein’s flights and illegal renditions, the Former Yugoslavia and US policy in the Middle East and beyond.

If anything, this is a problem of corruption, imperialism and rich people’s behaviour with impunity.

BluebonicPlague · 09/07/2019 13:10

Sometimes if feels as if something could finally shift. I really hope that when those papers are unsealed as a result of The Miami Herald's lawsuit then a whole lot of utterly corrupt people will stand trial and go down for a very long time.

Babycham1979 · 09/07/2019 13:10

They are everybody’s children, in the historical sense!

Babycham1979 · 09/07/2019 13:11

And the male-dominated tinhat conspiracy sphere has (rightly) been banging on about it for decades. A stopped clock and all that..

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 13:12

Annasgirl

It's totally gendered.

Handmaidens are sometimes involved and it is worth analyzing why they do what they do. Women are completely dominated by men from all directions, and ( even rich and wealthy women) are often in fear of men, so I should imagine that men who are dangerous enough to behave as the pimps of prostituted children are terrifying to women.
However handmaidens shouldn't be let off the hook, of course

sakura184 · 09/07/2019 13:14

This is why radfems always advise women to stay the fuck away from men, because you will ^always" become implicated in their crimes. When police arrest gangs they always arrest the girlfriends who happen to be there too

Everyone is in a cage, some people's are made of gold, but they are still cages.

What makes us different is we can see the bars.

Nothing is going to change.
