A Geordie lad verses the Woke Stasi

I was stumbling around twitter when I came across this little incident, and I was intrigued because it's the first time I've seen working class lads in a twitter spat with the armies of the woke.

This young lad does a (pretty unkind) tweet about rejecting a transwoman on tinder, because they have a penis.

mobile.twitter.com/DommyEnglish/status/1145323492591714304

There is a massive pile on, and of cause they try to get him sacked. Hilariously given he plays for a local 7 aside amateur team. The "club" issue statements, which are pounced on. The guy says he's lost his job and home, which is met with glee. He's totally trolling them. Other teams in the league join in, leading the Woke on a merry dance. How can they not tell? HOW??

mobile.twitter.com/official43fc

He then issues an "apology" where he tackles the double standards of hundreds of people attacking him for his looks, telling him to die (!!) Etc. Including, Blair White, an American transwomen and TRA.(watch White be destroyed by Magdaline Burns here:

)

The guy defends his sexual preferences too, and his right to hold those preferences. And I was put in mind of the James Kirkup blog today. Dommy was called a transphobe for rejecting a person based on the fact they have a penis.

The lad did apologise for initial tweet, which I'm glad. Personally I think he crossed the line, in a dick laddy fashion. But it's the moronic, rabid way he's attacked and how he deals with it that i think it's interesting. He's literally laughing at them and they can't tell. They are so young? So naive? But really mob like too.

I don't think the transwoman was too gutted, given the amount of attention now coming their way:mobile.twitter.com/kairahkelly_

Twitter is so insane.

I hope Dommy gets his eyes opened further......

Fair enough Janie. It doesn't say they are using Tinder to try and get people to buy content (though I know that obviously happens). And having looked through their twitter I disagree with them on pretty much everything regarding trans ideology (they are most definitely not a woman). But I still don't think it was OK to post their tinder profile on twitter.

LassOfFyvie · 03/07/2019 11:52

mabelmylove you have committed the sin of adding @ before a poster's name.

You are supposed to know the unwritten rule which some regulars on here have enacted (made up) that this isn't allowed.

aliasundercover · 03/07/2019 12:04

Oops, I think I've done that a couple of times - I had no idea it was frowned upon. I'll refrain in future.
Is there a reason for this? It's standard behaviour on many sites.

littlbrowndog · 03/07/2019 12:07

It sends an email to the user

SpinsterOfArts · 03/07/2019 12:15

The original tweet was unkind. I do think it's fairly typical of how most young, straight working-class guys would react if they were matched with someone with a penis on Twitter, though. They would think it was completely ridiculous, even if they didn't comment online about it.

His replies mocking the appearance of Blair White et al. came after he had repeatedly been called ugly and compared to a Roblox man and unflattering photos of fat men or CGI characters. In the 'apology' video he says that he found these funny and made some of his own in return. Obviously it'd be a much nicer world if nobody did this sort of thing (I'd find it upsetting rather than amusing), but if both 'sides' are doing it then you can't judge just one.

Juells · 03/07/2019 12:16

How can people not realise he's taking the piss?

BTW, mabelmylove, no woman has a penis. Not a one. Never happened. HTH

SpinsterOfArts · 03/07/2019 12:17

Also I still do a double-take every time I see someone treating 'women don't have penises' as a controversial statement, instead of a statement of the bloody obvious.

aliasundercover · 03/07/2019 12:19

Thanks littlbrowndog, I was unaware of that.

On most sites I use it just makes a little notification up at the top. I can see how the emails would be annoying. Apologies to anyone I've inadvertently disturbed.

MagneticSingularity · 03/07/2019 12:19

I get that must be annoying but, clearly, not everyone is aware of that or the ‘unwritten’ rule not to do it, so, maybe more effective to just point it out straight up instead of the snippy ‘don’t @ me. I’m. On. The. Thread.’ type responses.

MagneticSingularity · 03/07/2019 12:23

I agree that the original Tweet was out of order but I think the backlash from the wokerati was, as ever, totally hilariously disproportionate and it’s delicious that the pisstaking has gone right over their earnest little heads.

FloralBunting · 03/07/2019 12:35

Lang wasn't snippy. She just asked not to be @'d and explained why it wasn't necessary. It's not an unwritten rule, it's a preference many posters have and she expressed that preference quite politely and only got a bit short when the request was ignored three more times.

Fucksake, the need for some posters to primly show they are above all this is about as tedious as having to explain why a reasonable request is a reasonable request over and over.

MagneticSingularity · 03/07/2019 13:16

Floral ‘to primly show they are above all this’ - above all what? The prevailing mumsnet etiquette that we’re just supposed to know about even though no one except littlebrowndog cared to explain it properly?

I wasn’t aware of the ‘don’t @ me’ rule/preference either and I too was a bit puzzled by the ‘I’m on the thread’ response. If it had been explained about the emails there would have been no need for further requests or for people to get a ‘bit short’ or for you to find it all so tedious.

Now I know and the ‘offending’ poster knows we won’t do it. Job done.

Ladvisor · 03/07/2019 13:30

You could always change your settings so you don't receive emails.

LassOfFyvie · 03/07/2019 13:36

It is a facility which was set up for MN users.

If a poster doesn't like getting email notifications they can (a) switch it off in settings or (b) use a one off gmail or hotmail account for MN and only for MN.
Given the frequent data breaches I'm surprised any one uses their primary email for MN.

I don't know why some FWR regulars make such a thing of it. It seems a bit arrogant to assume other posters will have read and digested every single word of every single post and have acted on instructions given.

LassOfFyvie · 03/07/2019 13:38

There is no need for you to apologise. If posters don't like getting notifications they can switch them off.

It's not a cardinal sin. I used to do it all the time when I first joined, because I didn't realise the @-ed posters were getting an email every time I did it. Once I realised I stopped doing it, as it is a bit annoying to be on the receiving end. I'd never been on a message board that did that, before.

LassOfFyvie · 03/07/2019 13:43

I refer you toFloral'spost, which I quoted in full

So you did. Does Flora's post apply to the other posters cheering him on/making excuses?

LassOfFyvie · 03/07/2019 13:48

It is a facility which I understand was set up by MN at users' request because threads can move so rapidly.

It regularly gets discussed regularly here, since despite not apparently bothering posters on any other part of the site, some FWR posters prefer to make a fuss and tell other posters off, rather than changing their settings.

Juells · 03/07/2019 13:49

@Lamaha
Of course he's not a poster boy for feminists. He's a bloke. This is the real world. They aren't going to stroke anyone's ...

....that sentence didn't end the way I thought it would 🙃

Bezalelle · 03/07/2019 13:54

This is off topic but Lang's battle with the @ has had me in stitches! Sorry, Lang.

RosesAndRaindrops · 03/07/2019 13:55

What @MabelMyLove said, thank goodness it's not just me as that was my first response too.
Every right not to want to date whoever he likes, but I don't get shaming people or mocking on social media.
You just think "no thanks" or whatever, and carry on swiping until you find someone you do want to date.
Not share their picture for the laughs and reaction.
I'd be pretty ashamed if my teen was doing that tbh.

UrsulaPandress · 03/07/2019 13:59

I still want to know how anyone knows he is working class?

He plays football.

UrsulaPandress · 03/07/2019 14:24

Ah.

littlbrowndog · 03/07/2019 14:27

He is northern. Always working class 🤣
