I'm following a trans man on Twitter. This is some of what he has to say about women, women's health and trans inclusion and I've heard other trans men say similar (I don't agree with everything he says, of course, but he is speaking from his own perspective):
'Don't include trans men in women's reproductive health talks. We have our own unique needs that need to be talked about in our own community with our doctors. It's not women's problems and men need to stay out of their spaces. Trans health is it's own thing.'
'Respect women by not making the conversation about you. Because you're a man. Just politely sit quietly use the service you need and get the fuck out.'
'Not gonna lie, I've seen a lot of transmen trying to invade women's spaces and it's not cool. Don't try to hijack women's reproductive health conversations. Let go of your socialization, be a man and know your place.
We may need some of the same resources but... (Cont'd)
We do not need to conversation women have to include us or even use neutral language for us.
We need doctors to understand more neutral language and we need access to certain spaces that are women's only. Respect the ladies by not making it all about you while your there.'
These organisations that have decided to erase the word 'woman', who refuse to acknowledge and name female biology as being female - just who are they speaking with? It's so illogical. Include trans women in with men - it's transphobic; don't include trans men in with women - it's transphobic
