Followed it up with this tweet (screenshot). Note the first response is someone doing that passive-aggressive faux naive thing “Um, I’m confused, are you being transphobic?”

Someone also replied “So you don’t help trans women?” Jeez, can you imagine how many trans women find themselves in abusive relationships and unable to defend themselves against male violence? If such trans woman even exist, what would the percentage be in relation to women in the same predicament? 99.999% vs. 0.001% trans women?

Anyway - glad to see a women’s organisation standing up for women and the dictionary definition of woman.

Really impressed to see this - more organisations need balls like this. So to speak.

The Freedom Programme's stance is marvellous - they give zero fucks, which I applaud.

I'd very much like to contribute to their coffers, but the last time I looked at their website I couldn't say a way to do this...maybe I missed something obvious and someone on these boards might know how.

That tweet put me in mind of this quote from a gay male FB group who wanted to keep the group male only and exclude females identifying as men..

Given what karen ingala-smith said at the select committee about being contacted by women whose husbands were using transition to abuse them, plus obviously everyone on the trans widows thread, this is very welcome. Maybe they'll even add it into one of their sessions about recognising this for the abusive gas lighting it is. I bet they'll be seeing plenty of survivors of abuse via transition in the future.

I've long appreciated the Freedom Programme's refusal to capitulate to TRAs.

Women don't have penises. Penises have no place in women-only spaces.

I particularly enjoyed this exchange though. This person has “intersectional”, “sex positive” and “trans inclusive” in their bio. All I hear is “men men men”. Centre those men!

Clicking on the twitter link at the bottom of their website takes you to the twitter account in the OP. I'd say it's legit despite lack of blue tick.

I think they were shadow banned at one point, so I don't think a blue tick of approval from the Twitter gods is likely to be forthcoming. I can't imagine it troubles the magnificent Amazons at the Freedom Programne, though. May the wind always be in their sails.

I did the freedom programme a few years ago, I can imagine the vivacious, genuinely lovely lady who led the group posting that tweet she was wonderful and very plain speaking. The group was actually one of the only times in my life that has been single sex and it totally changes the dynamic doesn't it? I hope it stays that way.
