The irony.

I wonder whether the penny will drop?

She wants the parliamentary authorities to allow her to arrange 'locum cover' for her MP role.

Maybe get a TW in?

OP posts:
RubberTreePlant · 18/06/2019 10:58

(To cover maternity leave, that is.)

Sorry i know its wrong and will no.
doubt be deleted but that really made me laugh 😁

calpop · 18/06/2019 11:14

Like when transwomen complain about discrimination in the workplace and being passed over for promotion.

CherryGlaze · 18/06/2019 11:19

Sad isn't it. I used to have a lot of respect for her, and she's clearly been through a lot on her fertility journey. But my first thought when I saw this on twitter yesterday was 'oh why doesn't she just identify out of womanhood, problem solved'

I wish the whole debate hadn't reduced me to this.

Anyway, best of luck to her and I hope she has a healthy baby

nauticant · 18/06/2019 11:19

Like others, on hearing her on the news I thought "Are you going to get it now Stella?". The answer to that is probably "no, not for some time yet".

She has too much invested and she can still step around many of the problems she's helping to create.

RubberTreePlant · 18/06/2019 11:21

Absolutely.

I also ho she starts joining the dots.

OP posts:
CherryGlaze · 18/06/2019 11:21

...and some time on maternity leave to think about what a woman is and whether our rights need protecting! Wink

RubberTreePlant · 18/06/2019 11:22

True @nauticant Sad

CherryGlaze · 18/06/2019 11:22

Nauticant, you're probably right Sad

calpop · 18/06/2019 11:25

Welcome to the biological basis of your own reality - and the reality we've all been dealing with since having children. Perhaps now Stella will understand how galling it is to go through all that, because of your biology, and then be told that your biology doesnt mean anything and that anyone can do woman and better than you anyway!

LangCleg · 18/06/2019 11:25

Oh, Stella suddenly knows what a woman is now that it's Stella with a problem?

Colour me shocked.

nonsenceagain · 18/06/2019 11:28

I’ve heard her speak about feminism and she was great. If I didn’t know her position that TWAW I would have thought she was GC.

escapade1234 · 18/06/2019 11:29

Can’t stand Stella Creasy. I saw her on a panel debate show once discussing Brexit. Every time someone else spoke from “the other side” she sat shaking her head and smirking and furiously scribbling notes and eye rolling like she was in the sixth form debating society.

LangCleg · 18/06/2019 11:33

I do not like her at all. Never have.

Although I would say that indifference turned to contempt when she minimised the concerns of a mother whose 11-year-old daughter had been exposed to a classmate-complete-with-penis masturbating in front of her due to a school's trans policies.

Yabbers · 18/06/2019 11:35

What an unpleasant post.

Are you really unhappy to see a woman challenging the hugely patriarchal system of parliament, which has kept women out of politics for centuries and trying to have it changed? Do you think she deserves to be discriminated against, because she holds a political position you disagree with? Asking for it, is she?

If this is feminism, you can fucking keep it.

DpWm · 18/06/2019 11:48

Wtf
Stella benefit from a women only shortlist, only to then promote the idea that males who identify as women should be allowed into women only shortlists.

That isn't "challenging patriarchy" it's pulling the ladder up from underneath you.

She doesn't deserve to be discriminated against be ause of her female biology. No female does.
Stella doesn't believe that 'woman' means person with female biology. She thinks it means something else (something she can't define). Therefore according to Stella, women's rights don't exist.

That's what we're pissed off about.

She's pregnant. Maybe she'll realise now.

Of course not. Are uou reading a different thread?

What's interesting is that she told us, specifically, that biology ks definitely NOT the basis of women's oppression.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/06/2019 12:03

Congrats to Stella, genuinely pleased for her that she’s going to be a mother

Good luck with all the stuff she’s about to experience that only happens to women. If she’s got any sense it will be quite an eye opener

When I worry that I’m a transphobic bigot (which I do occasionally), things like this remind me that there’s stuff that men will never experience because of the way their bodies work, and it’s reasonable to expect some accommodations for that

placemats · 18/06/2019 12:04

Stella, I'm all right Jack, Creasy is now realising that women, i.e. adult human females, now need help when on possible maternity leave, and I hope, with all my heart, that she gets her much longed for baby.

However her description of her early miscarriages are awful. Why didn't she seek help immediately and felt the need to continue working? I would have been horrified as one of her constituents to learn that she had done this.

RubberTreePlant · 18/06/2019 12:08

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think her position is self-serving and morally corrupt, in addition to (of course) being nonsensical.

She's more than happy to legislate to remove legal identity and protections from women, and more than happy to pour scorn and contempt on any woman who objects. Yet, she apparently considers HER biological womanhood, her maternity as deserving of an appropriate policy response.

Not a good look.

I was surprised to see this article in The Guardian.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jun/17/pregnant-mp-maternity-leave-equality-stella-creasy

She was talking about pregnancy and how it affects women MPs. Didn't even mention that of course men and nonbinaryfolx can get pregnant. And how it is much worse for them blah blah blah.

The genderists will not be happy about that.

Quite.

Do you have a link or a screenshot for that?
