Mermaids has apparently put lots of confidential data online including private emails, personal data and emails demonstrating the pressure they have put on the Tavistock.
Andrew Gilligan article - share token:

From the Mermaids statement: "No emails to and from families, or other such confidential communications, were part of the information in question."

This is an absolute bald-faced lie. I can't believe it. (Although I can)

Popchyk · 15/06/2019 21:45

I noticed that Gilligan referred to Green's child as "her son".

And also referenced Susie Green claiming the 48% suicide statistic, contrasting that with the Tavi saying that it is less than 1%.

The Sunday Times is pulling no punches.

JoyceJeffries - 'incompetent half-wits' - whilst it might look like that from the current data breach issue, I'm not so sure that's a full summary.

Over the last few years on this forum, twitter, and on other online and offline places, there have been loads of caring, concerned individuals who are supportive of those parents who find themselves in that situation, and have also been flagging huge issues and red flags about Mermaids as a charity, for a whole raft of reasons. (Partly due to the fact that Mermaids' training is complicit in some of those parents and children ending up in the situation they're in).

Incomptency might be an apt description for the data breach, but SG et al have been incredibly competent in other ways over the last few ways in terms of forging ahead with Mermaid's very specific agenda.

Here's the link
Mike Williams Establishment Officer NSPCC.
Haven't read all the tweets about it yet. It may well be that he follows Prostatia in his roll of child protection but 🤷‍♀️

Yeahnahyeah · 15/06/2019 21:51

Whoops forgot the link but you got there anyhoo

ImGenderfree · 15/06/2019 21:52

Mermaids statement on twitter is dreadful - excuse after excuse after excuse but still people blame those who exposed it.

Wake up - how many times can you fuck up and still blame everyone else.

Shocked about EHCR - love that The Times included that - kinda spiked them a bit.

NotBadConsidering · 15/06/2019 21:55

Someone should report the safeguarding concerns around this breach to the NSPCC.

Oh no, wait Angry

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/06/2019 22:01

Fucking hell

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2019 22:06

Prostatia ? As in Prostate ? Wth ?

SophoclesTheFox · 15/06/2019 22:09

Blimey flip.

As cavalier with data as they are with facts.

How many children need to be harmed before this cult is stopped?

NeurotrashWarrior · 15/06/2019 22:11

Jesus that thread's getting worse

It just shows how amateur these organisations are, but given a disproportionate public platform which they hide behind.

It’s all just so predictable. Hopefully with this exposed, they can be shut down to stop damaging any more kids.

Seriously, my son went to the playground today in a tutu, and I always look sideways expecting some of Susie Green’s cult trying to tell me he needs castration. They are so dangerous.

BlackForestCake · 15/06/2019 22:19

I don't wish to be flippant but perhaps this will lessen Mermaids' reputation in the IT community. Data security is even more holy to them than free access to porn.

AnyOldPrion · 15/06/2019 22:38

I can barely take everything in at the moment it’s twisting so fast. But the most awful part for me is that, against a background of appalling revelations about Mermaids and the NSPCC, fucking Nicola Sturgeon is planning to rush self-ID through in Scotland. Who the fuck is pulling her strings? What hold do they have over her?

Sorry maybe this is the wrong thread for that. But it seems to me like this is all not just interlinked, but co-ordinated. Will Westminster be the next to announce?

All this about Mermaids doesn’t shock me, which is terribly sad. There’s a stench around all this, and as has been said upthread, it’s like PIE all over again. But PIE on steroids. I’m genuinely afraid. I thought we’d had an impact, but right now, it feels like like using a battering ram against solid rock.

Sorry wonderful women of Mumsnet for my negativity. We have to keep fighting against this. Rage on rage.

OvaHere · 15/06/2019 22:45

Some excellent journalism by Gilligan and The Times. I do wonder if they were tipped off as to the data breach although it does also seem feasible that it was easily found.

FannyCann · 15/06/2019 22:45

I'm pretty sure those residentials covered all age groups too

As a family we have been on several residential trips - not mermaids ones obv - music workshop weeks and a school trip staying in a youth hostel. The music one would take over the entire hostel and was very social with lots of activities and parent socialising, yes quite a lot of 🍷🍺 included. The school one was at a bigger hostel and another school was also there plus some private individuals although the schools were kept quite separate. The children had lots of freedom within what seemed like a very safe environment. It's such a shame that these sorts of trips need to be viewed with suspicion. Yes, the boyfriend (police) of one of the teachers on the school trip has since been prosecuted for guess what....
He accompanied her, (and my DDs) on several trips though there is no suggestion anything untoward went on on those trips. ConfusedSad

littlbrowndog · 15/06/2019 22:52

Yeps anyoldprion. It’s pure fucking madness at moment.

I keep getting creepy letters back talking about how wonderful mixed sex toilets are.

Is there any way for you to share what kind of stuff they say without outing yourself?

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 15/06/2019 23:00

Let's not jump to conclusions about that other NSPCC guy just yet, there are lots of innocent reasons to follow a group like Prostasia (like, keeping a close eye on them)

So when are they being reported to the Charity Commission and are being shut down.

Like the Webberely clinic they supported. Yes let's not forget that connection either.

Yeahnahyeah · 15/06/2019 23:15

I agree Grabthars but at the very least, a senior employee of NSPCC should have the feckin insight to not have his place of work on their Twitter handle.
It just confirms the laxness around the organization.
