Data breaches by Mermaids exposed in the Times

Mermaids has apparently put lots of confidential data online including private emails, personal data and emails demonstrating the pressure they have put on the Tavistock.

I was and always will be someone who stands up for LGB rights but the new-fangled alphabet soup is just a gimmick with an agenda.

I was asked to do a rainbow thing at work and explained why this wasn’t going to happen. Happy to raise money for charity I said - oh nooooo we just want a flag. A flag? So not actually willing to do anything for anyone? 😕

It’s quite depressing that the TRA has made people feel like that, isn’t it? My assistant is a young lesbian and she no longer goes to Belfast pride, because it’s all about the T. I went every year, with friends (ironically I was the only straight in a group of lesbians). We’re older now, but none of them go. Every time I see the flag, the first thing that I think is ‘trans’. That’s the effect the TRA bullying has had on many people who supported Pride for decades.

It's weird that it only dates from this year, as well. I checked a couple of other organisations and they have much earlier, pre-GDPR dates. Is it possible they were not correctly registered at the time of the breach?

It all seems so unprofessional, why is the registration so recent, and why from someone's home address where the connection is not clear rather than their office?

On the trustees page, the Lloyds guy has this in his bio (relating to his job), "As well as responsibility for the Conduct and Regulatory change agenda he is tasked with overseeing the implementation of robust controls in all parts of the business."!!

Kate Armstrong of Blue Shadow Marketing is all over the place giving GDPR advice, too.

So we have:

3 cosy chums as Trustees; including Mr Lloyds (overseer of robust controls in all parts), husband of P News (professional lobbyist), and S G (does IT but had a senior moment with some rather sensitive data).
Plus Kate who runs residentials alongside a (unrelated?) marketing company from home.

And in the last year these questionable examples of strategic leadership received funds just south of a million quid.

I wonder what is the secret to their success?

There was a mention of a confidentiality breach in one of the cached emails Dec 2016.

It sounds like they sent out an email to donors with all of the addresses in Cc rather than Bcc.
