Do it has just been suggested on Twitter that Canada needs a Mumsnet, I have tweeted that Canada is welcome to join so I thought we could hold a small welcome gathering.

It is relevant to them as well because we are often held up as an example of 'best practice' when it comes to self ID.

Canadian here. I’d just like to throw in my two cents about something Boris said on page one. Boris said we don’t have a class system in Canada - I disagree. I think the majority of countries have class systems. We have accents based on class (at least where I live we do), the differences just aren’t as pronounced as in the U.K. People still suffer from the poverty of low expectations, from being shut out of higher education due to costs (which are a fraction of US costs, but still too much for many people), we still sort people based on the vehicles they drive or can’t afford to drive at all, based on their job title, what part of a city they live in, and especially what kind of coffee they drink (I won’t drink Timmy’s, so must be a snob).

We don’t get to pretend to all be clever and classless and free.
