I recommend buying a copy of the new issue (dated 14-27 June). Good to see Private Eye shining a light on this individual. I can't quite manage to screenshot the whole thing but the gist of it is here.

Thanks, sounds a good read.

Nothing surprises me about that rank hypocrite

Popchyk · 12/06/2019 11:04

Gosh, so Lord (self-appointed guardian of the queer) has no qualms about promoting countries whose human rights records on homosexuality are appalling.

And then labelling legitimate concerns raised by people like Peter Tatchell and Stonewall as "smears".

Such a brilliant ally, eh?

Zeugma · 12/06/2019 11:33

Yes, quite. I'm hoping the FOI requests regarding the consultation bear fruit, though I don't want to get too hopeful given things I've heard about how these can be wriggled out of.

Adds Private Eye to my shopping list
Thanks OP

Great article.

As we've long suspected, the link between homophobia, sexism and 'woker than woke "trans" rights activism' is far from coincidental. It's instrinsic to the 'movement'.

butteryellow · 12/06/2019 12:11

You know, I think it's time I subscribed to private eye again - it's cheaper than my kids beano susbcription, and really deserves the support.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2019 12:12

That looks like a good article. My dad reads it religiously so hopefully he will take notice. At the moment he thinks it's a niche issue which he's not very interested in.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 12/06/2019 12:15

I'll pick that up later. Thanks Zeugma.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/06/2019 12:20

Thank you Private Eye!
This is in the best tradition of the Eye's calling out hypocrisy and dishonesty. I will be buying that ASAP.

Anlaf · 12/06/2019 23:44

Great. Private eye is v widely read by policy makers.

hoodathunkit · 12/06/2019 23:48

I love Private Eye

I may even get round to sending them some tips at some point - something I keep meaning to do but am so insanely busy with research and every day brings some new horror

:)

Manderleyagain · 13/06/2019 00:32

That was really excellent.

borntobequiet · 13/06/2019 07:20

DD kindly buys me a subscription every year, I’ve been a regular reader since my teens (when WH Smug wouldn’t stock it). Very pleased to see this. Will write to say well done.

Deliriumoftheendless · 13/06/2019 07:38

Private Eye are very persistent, following stories for decades. They do proper investigative journalism and are unafraid of litigation.

They’re fucking funny too.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 13/06/2019 08:43

Just bought my copy.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 13/06/2019 08:49

Yes, I bought a copy yesterday to peruse at the weekend. It’s a really good read, I just never have the time!

RadicalStitch · 13/06/2019 08:50

Just subscribed. Thanks

dianebrewster · 13/06/2019 08:55

As I edge closer to cancelling the grauniad I might take out a sub to private eye, Will def buy it this week! Thanks.

TobyandLottiesmum · 13/06/2019 09:34

Am off to buy myself a copy shortly

I did that when I stopped buying The Guardian. It’s about £29 for a year if you take out a subscription and is published fortnightly. It reports a lot of stuff that isn’t covered elsewhere which is good. Horrid tiny print though!

CloudRusting · 13/06/2019 10:54

I got an email from private eye in the last few days that I when our subscription renews the price will have gone up and I did ponder whether to cancel. But worth keeping for stuff like this if nothing else.

Manderleyagain · 13/06/2019 12:32

They published quite a few letters on the whole trans rights to-do a few months ago. There had been an article in Rotten Boroughs on the cancelled WPUK meeting at Leeds city hall, and stuff going on at Cambridge re the equality act - a couple of letters were published in response. One saying 'this was transphobic' and one saying 'well done for dipping your toe in the whole problem with trans activism - please continue because people are frightened to talk about it' [paraphrasing!] There followed more letters over the next couple of issues, mostly encouraging them to do more on it. I thought at the time maybe just maybe they were publishing the letters to show that there is reader demand because they were planning to more.

Its the perfect organ for investigating this. None of the journalists are named so no one can go after them. The readership are not woke, and the whole premise of the paper is poke at hypocrisy.

CraftyWoman · 13/06/2019 13:38

Private Eye is well worth the paltry annual subscription. I don't always agree with what they print, but they're absolutely spot on with this. Hilarious as well.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 14/06/2019 02:45

Thanks. I just subscribed.

Cwenthryth · 14/06/2019 04:14

I’m tempted by private eye, but really would want to read it as an app/online rather than having printed copies cluttering up my recycling.
