Good point. Sad

HandsOffMyRights · 12/06/2019 22:58

Glinner has been blocked by the NSPCC.

Their responses are dodgy as....

I feel increasingly sickened by this emerging story/scandal and the defences on social media.

I think the first thing the NSPCC should do is rethink the concept of the 'celebrity team'.

It sounds like something created by Perfect Curve from 'W1A'.

RowleyBirkin · 12/06/2019 22:59

Just to finally put the cherry on the cake, new video still from "jrub21":

To the twitter handwringers defending the NSPCC fetishist and saying grown ups should be allowed to practice their kinks in private between consenting adults.

If something is on the internet it is, by definition, not private.

If sexual activity takes place in the workplace it is not private.

If part of the kink is exhibitionism then by definition it involves people who have not consented.

If an individual who has unusual sexual preferences does not understand and adhere to these basic truths they have no place in any workplace, and especially not one that professes to prevent cruelty to children.

The NSPCC's last annual report

www.nspcc.org.uk/globalassets/documents/annual-reports/nspcc_annualreport_201718_online.pdf

says that 82.2% of their annual income for 2017/18 came from legacies and donations.

That was £97.2m.

They really need to get a grip on this fast.

I don't think MB should have been chosen for the role, but I do think that the NSPCC's behaviour has been incredibly unprofessional, and the whole thing seems to have been co-ordinated by this 'celebrity team'.

By not doing sufficient due diligence in the first place, and then dropping MB without any real explanation, they have created the appearance of bullying regardless of the validity of their concerns. It's a shit show.

Yeahnahyeah · 12/06/2019 23:06

I'm appalled at the NSPCC responses (TRAs et al) to their tweet. They MUST be deleting critical ones. It's fucking Orwellian.

HumberElla · 12/06/2019 23:07

I wonder how much a ‘celebrity liaison officer’ gets paid?

How many pounds, say donated from school cake sales, is MrCub’s time and expertise worth? I can think of some better ways it could have been spent.

DJLippy · 12/06/2019 23:08

For reference. See how they have reframed the definition of CSE - the definition which they give to children. See how this differs from the one they use on their website?
The purple page is the definition they give to children.

Dh has just pointed out that following the OXfam sex abuse scandal we transferred our donation to the NSPCC

Now what?

Just catching up with this and all I can say at the mo is bloody hell!

Lordamighty · 12/06/2019 23:14

Standing order to NSPCC cancelled, they should be hanging their heads in shame over this whole debacle, instead they are trying to cover it up with accusations of bullying. Unbelievable.

nonsenceagain · 12/06/2019 23:15

I’m still finding it difficult to believe what is unfolding here. It’s almost beyond belief.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 12/06/2019 23:24

Rufus a number of smaller local charities providing more specialist input of the kind national charities cannot replicate? You will still have some dud ones but you will spread the risk

ChattyLion · 12/06/2019 23:25

TBF in the NSPCC twitter feed they do give a standard reply to the people who have tweeted them about cancelling direct debits to NSPCC.

Hello. We're really sorry to hear that you feel like you can no longer support us. Your ongoing support has been invaluable in helping us fight to end child abuse, thank you. If you wish to talk more, you can email our team at [email protected]

There is a second, more fetishistic Instagram account too. Username ‘JRubberCub’

merrymouse · 12/06/2019 23:34

Re: the video, is it correct that he linked to it on his LinkedIn Page?

I'm finding this a bit confusing - LinkedIn is a work site, not a general social networking site.

DuMondeB · 12/06/2019 23:36

Looks like he used to have a twitter account in the JRubberCub name too. It’s gone now, but someone else’s tweet led me to this interview:

CEO of NSPCC gives "great presentation on vision for protecting children online" just last week.... Needs to sort in-house or there'll be no more speaking engagements.
