Self reflection indeed, nosquirrels!

I have no doubt she regrets her previous comments - but is this because they have cost her opportunities or because her opinions have changed and she no longer thinks that way?

Melroses · 12/06/2019 18:34

The trouble is the apology will never be enough. It is proven time and time again.

R0wantrees · 12/06/2019 18:40

you would think that a charity would know to check out anyone associated with them and make sure that all of their staff know safeguarding rules inside out.

I suspect most in the marketing department are just focussed on doing marketing (including managing their 'celebrities') They will have targets & campaigns just as if selling any other comodity or service.

A lot of Safeguarding rules & policies have become cumbersome 'tick box' or discrete training sessions so many people don't engage with the very basic fundamentals and simply and always apply them.

twitter.com/NSPCC/status/1138860884737044480

NSPCC now seem to be suggesting that their member of staff is being bullied and posts should be reported to twitter that refer to 'outside interests'.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but this is how its reading to me.

How does anyone else read this?

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 18:43

It looks like any restored faith in the NSPCC has lasted about five minutes.

FFS.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/06/2019 18:45

It looks like they are standing fully behind their rubber cub bear person who is obviously entirely appropriately employed by the NSPCC...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/06/2019 18:46

Says them!

Most of the tweets (about 99%) I saw were the rainbow (keyboard) warriors (apologies to green peace) braying for blood, dire punishments and the removal the rainbow from their logo. Plus threats of ‘I’m never giving you hateful bigots a penny ever ever again (not that I did anyway, but I did, wouldn’t now)

A bit like when a woman says something and the men all like on. Funny that.

Outofinspiration · 12/06/2019 18:47

Hopefully, alongside the 'support' they will be holding some online conduct refresher training as well.

First up - don't link your blog with pics of you in your fetish gear to your public LinkdIn page.

Doyoumind · 12/06/2019 18:55

There's no way the guy won't be sternly spoken to about his online activities. He has shown a massive error of judgment.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/06/2019 18:59

These types of thing are gold plated these days. You can’t pull people up or you are a bigot. I’m not sure where/if any lines are drawn.

DuMondeB · 12/06/2019 18:59

Surely they have a social media conduct policy for employees?

Even volunteers for kids sports clubs round here have to sign a code of online conduct.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/06/2019 19:00

There may be a contract but it will be full of words like ‘reasonable’ in there that you can argue the toss over.

R0wantrees · 12/06/2019 19:07

NSPCC now seem to be suggesting that their member of staff is being bullied and posts should be reported to twitter that refer to 'outside interests'

The person operating NSPCC twitter account will have a limited number of possible responses.

Its all damage limitation & of course NSPCC have a duty of care to staff,

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 19:16

Lord you can also argue the toss over the phrase

TO PREVENT THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE WRONGS OF CHILDREN AND THE CORRUPTION OF THEIR MORALS

and

TO DO ALL OTHER SUCH LAWFUL THINGS AS ARE INCIDENTAL OR CONDUCIVE TO THE ATTAINMENT OF THE ABOVE OBJECTS

and whether parading publicly on social media in a context associated with your job (your linkedin profile) in rubber and talking about perverts really is in keeping with the charity's stated legal objectives.

What does 'corruption of morals' involve?

If you have a member of staff who has lead to the charity being defended by a lot of people suggesting that pointing out the inappropriateness of this is 'kink shaming' that certainly raises questions about socially accepted levels of morality and 'reasonable' expectations of the public.

JackyHolyoake · 12/06/2019 19:27

The expression "kink shaming" is an expression intended to tell women and children that men will behave sexually in public in any way they choose, whenever they choose and wherever they choose.

No thank you guys. We women and our children do not consent to this.

So we women will engage in what you call "kink shaming", which is a euphemism for paraphilic disorders.

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 19:35

Yep.

Every time i see the phrase kink shaming, I shall be pointing out what it is a euphemisms for.

I am sick of euphemisms in the current political discourse. They need to be called out whenever and whereever they occur.

Their use is to deliberately hinder accountability and transparency which are fundamental to both safeguarding and democracy.

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 12/06/2019 19:43

I have just seen this posted on Twitter this is completely unacceptable

Iggypoppie · 12/06/2019 19:45

Who decided that we all need to be so accepting of kinks, festish and porn in public life?

Iggypoppie · 12/06/2019 19:46

Bloody hell @menstruatorextrodinaire

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/06/2019 19:47

Is that some weird black pudding thing?

Pretty certain that image caption would violate even the most relaxed of work policies.

Jess Bradley, rubber edition?

@NSPCC

One of your employees, boasting about masturbating in a NSPCC toilet whilst at work. Then uploading the video - "Amateur Fetish Porn at Childrens Charity premises"

JackyHolyoake · 12/06/2019 19:51

Who decided that we all need to be so accepting of kinks, fetish and porn in public life?

Patriarchy decided ... men's sexual behaviours supersede everything else.

Just say "No!" We women and our children do not consent to this.

SunsetBeetch · 12/06/2019 19:51

Holy shit! Defend him now, Owen Jones and crew. I dare you.
