So I've decided to sign up to Mumsnet again after deleting my account due to previous concerns about data here. I have continued to occasionally lurk both here and twitter to keep informed of the happenings.
Firstly to Julie Bindel, I'm in awe of your bravery, Courage calls to courage, or perhaps in my case self preservation (some may call it cowardice and probably are not wrong). It's my understanding that she has so many other important things on her plate that she, as an independent woman, is completely entitled to decide what she wants to prioritise. Respect to her.
Frankly I find some posters defence of CB's mental health abhorrent as well as confusing. I saw the recent celebration from TRA's about the WHO (iirc) declaration that Transgender is not a mental health issue. Now it's being used as an excuse for VAW. No. Stop hedging your effn bets. That is not how this works.
So many times we have witnessed people expressing concern about children/teens and the possibility (read extreme likelihood) that their dysphoria could be related to other underlying conditions. Only to be shut down and told NO. I really want to swear but it probably won't bode well for my first post back.
I'm not sure what services are on offer for people suffering with mental health conditions over in the UK. If it is anything like down under it is extremely poor. We had a big shut down of services in (I think 90's was not paying too much attention) this was quite valid as patients were subjected to abuse. However there was no infrastructure set in place for their support upon release into the community nor much monitoring to ensure that those that needed it were taking their medications. I could go into far more detail but reluctant to derail this thread.
To close on a lighter note I'm sending lang cleng over the interwebs, a huge bowl of Weetbix (not weetabix in Oz) and bananas. God I hope I've got the poster right in my memory. Because that warrior woman needs some sustenance. I'd send some to Julie too, but apparently it's not particularly popular over there. 🤷🏼♀️
