Re: the Guardian, I was pissed off that they had a pic of Julie with their original headline on their home page of “LGBT+ committee members resign due to ‘transphobia’”. The juxtaposition of Julie next to that word was deliberate I’m sure. I’m pleased to see they’ve now changed it to read “...over speakers at feminist meeting”. 24 hours later.

I agree. But I also think it gets worse when talking about transwomen.

If ginger had read something similar in the paper, a family man, say, who had subjected his wife (or women generally ) to threats and then finally waited for her and had to be restrained whilst spitting invective, calling her a fucking cunt. And we were describing him as a vile knobhead, or a bastard, I don't think ginger would turn a hair.

I think ginger you are confused about what a ‘safe space’ is - it is a space where speech is restricted, where the concerns of a subset of —men— individuals are centred, where robust language is not allowed in case it offends. These boards are not ‘safe spaces’ and don’t seek to be; they are a place where arguments can be made and points explored to get to the truth not to placate people.

What has happened in the last 10 years? There seem to be so many more total nutters about. I was really active in the LGBT community in the 90s and there were a few trans people but none of them were trying to co-opt womanhood in this way.
