Seems to have been carried out by well known TRA who has threatened violence before: twitter.com/bindelj/status/1136402563379716096

Uh oh

Yep

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/06/2019 20:16

It's in the Guardian, and it's actually an ok article Shock

Interesting snippet: "[Edinburgh] university decided to take a one-year break from the Stonewall Index, a thorough benchmarking tool for employers to rate their progress on inclusion, because of its heavy administrative burden"

FloralBunting · 06/06/2019 20:22

clitherow, I don't think you're defending male violence against women, no. I do think you have perhaps been so troubled by this escalation that you're falling back a little on female socialization. I genuinely understand that - but I do think that the criticism of the relatively mild angry posts on this thread is wide of the mark.

I also think that discussing whatever possible mental health conditions he may or may not have is actually just as likely as any expressed anger to be used by AWAs to justify their ideology and violence, so you might as well join us all on the indignant step anyway.

DuMondeB · 06/06/2019 20:30

Wow. The Stonewall Equality Index submission certainly sounds like a labour intensive process: www.stonewall.org.uk/workplace-equality-index-faqs

No wonder a non-profit educational institution with a shrinking real-terms budget might decide to give it a miss.

EverardDigby · 06/06/2019 20:36

The Stonewall Equality Index FAQs don't mention cost, surely it's not free.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/06/2019 20:39

I don't think you are intending to defend violence but you seem to be suggesting this perpetrator should be sheltered from the natural consequence (opprobrium) that tends to follow.

tobee · 06/06/2019 20:47

Mentally ill is not what springs to mind. Male violence is what springs to mind.

needmorespace · 06/06/2019 20:48

Into the rabbit hole I went and saw this on Joss Prior's twitter in response to a woman who called out the defence by JP on JB's attacker.
Apologies, I can't screenshot as I can't figure out how to crop:

'I said shush!
Sit in the corner, raise your hand and wait if you need to speak to someone.....
Unless you want to be sent back to the anti-social weirdos, you'd do well to listen..
Now where was I....'

DuMondeB · 06/06/2019 20:49

Reddit U.K. politics thread is good:

Popchyk · 06/06/2019 21:10

I do think Julie Bindel makes a good point.

She said: "He was standing waiting for me ready to attack. However, I blame the academics & the rest of the woke Stasi at Edinburgh Uni that whipped this up into a frenzy, calling us Nazis and bigots and terf scumFor talking about women’s sex-based rights. It ’s just misogyny."

She's bang on. You often have staff and academics stirring the pot, knowing full well that a certain element will seize on their words and take direct action.

And then they'll wash their hands of the effects of it. Like the cowards that they are.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 06/06/2019 21:11

Floral
I'm definitely going to be on the indignant step.

Outanabout · 06/06/2019 21:14

Hahaha at the poster on that reddit thread saying "she could have gone to the bathroom". Didn't think that through, did he (I'm guessing it was a he)
Also amused at the bossiness of "Shush". The boss of everyone 😂

Absolutepowercorrupts · 06/06/2019 21:15

Popchyk
Your post at 21.10.01 is spot on.
The woke Stasi is a good term too.

FloralBunting · 06/06/2019 21:18

Mostly emphatically, yes Popchyk The fact that these breadcrumbs of 'nazi' and 'terf scum' are strewn by a particular group of the privileged is the food that has nourished the actions of the fools who are unable to control their misogyny. That we acknowledge the fools to be fools doesn't take away from the responsibility being firmly at the door of the wokebeards who are, even now, justifying what has happened with the same terminology.

Just because you can see the difference between the organ grinder and the monkey doesn't mean you shouldn't get the monkey locked away if he starts biting.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 06/06/2019 21:18

out

Just read that bit

What a plonker

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 06/06/2019 21:19

In The Guardian article Julie says that she doesn't intend to involve the police. I wonder why? I wish she bloody would. This is a clear case of a man with a history of trying to incite violence against women, and an actual case of him attempting to commit an act of violence against her (what might've happened without those 3 security guards to intervene - I dread to think). As such, regardless of any gender ID issues this is not acceptable behaviour. I wish I knew her reasoning.

The police will say it was justified self defence? The police seem to have all been trained by Mermaids et al.

JaniceBattersby · 06/06/2019 21:26

The Julie Bindel article is the second most-read piece on The Scotsman’s website today. People are listening.

Hope Julie is ok, and hats off to a Gina Davidson of The Scotsman for such a great piece.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 06/06/2019 21:27

ItsAllGoingToBeFine but surely there were enough witnesses to challenge the self-defence argument, 3 security guards had to intervene, they wouldn't have acted if not to protect.

Exactly Spartacus. Plus previous online evidence of incitement to commit violence against women.
