Murdered a woman- but didn't pose a risk to women?!

Wtf. A transwoman with an interest in sadistic torture, jailed for 26 years for brutally killing a woman was allowed into a women's prison because apparent lack of sexual offences meant that there was 'little risk' to female inmates. Without a GRC there was absolutely no responsibility to do this but they chose to anyway, putting the wants of a murderer ahead of women's safety.

Now moved back to a men's prison.

I will also back up BadgertheBodger:

This is a man who murdered a woman. He then manipulated the prison system.

The only way I will get deleted for that is if one of the Monitors reports my post, because I know no one regular here would. If MNHQ delete this post because some random TRA reports it for calling the man who murdered a woman a man, then I will dispute it. I have copied this post for my reference.

Pronouns are Rohypnol.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 03/06/2019 10:33

It seems there are different Transgender Case boards:

'How are decisions made about where I will be locatedin the prison estate? To make decisions about location as well as to review the care and management of transgender people in prison, the PSI introducedmulti-agency ‘Transgender Case Boards’. There are three types of Transgender Case Board:•Initial Local Transgender Case Board•Local Transgender Review Boards•Complex Case Boards'

nauticant · 03/06/2019 10:47

Considering the small number involved, there does seem to be a great deal of effort going on behind the scenes to get violent or sexually abusive male prisoners into women's prisons.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/06/2019 10:48

3 levels of case boards?? And if they're local boards then there must be hundreds of people involved. Yet more ££££ for the trans gravy train.

What other group gets this level of intervention - and has such catastrophic outcomes for women? Sad

Popchyk · 03/06/2019 10:49

MNHQ have stated that committing heinous crimes means that you don't have to pretend that the offender is female. Torturing and killing a woman is heinous.

And interesting that Woods was trying to get Bethany, who he murdered, pregnant. That came out at the trial.

www.thesun.co.uk/news/2704661/please-couple-tied-up-killed-flatmate-knife-attack-stratford/

Could easily be trying to get a female inmate pregnant this time.

And you'd have to wonder how coerced the female inmate was into starting a relationship with Woods. Saying no to someone who had already tortured and killed a woman? How safe would that be?

HumberElla · 03/06/2019 10:52

So this male practiced torture techniques on a Barbie doll, then tortured and killed a woman.
He then gets into a women’s prison on the grounds that his crime was not sexually motivated?

So on that basis any man who commits even the most horrendous crimes towards women can be deemed by this board of incompetents as ‘no risk’ to women just so long as long as they didn’t get off on it?

Men, just do what you like to women, but pretend you didn’t get your rocks off if you want an easy transfer to the female estate! Wink!

Bluestitch · 03/06/2019 10:55

I'm sure I read somewhere that women in prison (in the US?) are automatically deemed unable to consent to sex, due to the power imbalance possibly in relation to sex with prison guards. I see no reason why it shouldn't also be the case here. They are locked up with this man. They can't block him, or ghost him or get up and leave. There was clearly inadequate enough supervision that sex was able to occur. It's barbaric and abusive.

Absolutely @Bluestitch, totally agree with you

Absolutepowercorrupts · 03/06/2019 11:05

saraclara
You can believe what you like but this is a man who has murdered a woman and he's been assessed to pose no risk to women.
Ffs this is absolutely fucking ridiculous

IneedKirstieandPhil · 03/06/2019 11:07

So wrong. If the prison service aren’t brave enough to put male offenders into a male prison then I’d rather they dedicate a secure unit to trans prisoners. But this is just beyond ridiculous

Popchyk · 03/06/2019 11:12

If lobby groups for prisoners who claim to be transgender are allowed to make their case, then the prison service must also include lobby groups who act in the interests of women.

Or get rid of all lobby groups altogether.

AncientLights · 03/06/2019 11:12

SaraClara yes men who murder men get put in men's prisons (unless obvs they announce they are women). A woman who murdered a woman would go to a women's jail, even if she thought she was a man. This is a man who murdered a woman who was put in a women's jail. What was your point again about logic and arguments not flying?

MrsSpenserGregson · 03/06/2019 11:13

This all adds to the vile narrative that female criminals are somehow worse than male criminals, doesn't it? That a woman committing a crime is far more dreadful (probably because we all know it's so much rarer) than a man doing so, and therefore women deserve everything they get in prison Angry

I digress here, but it's rathe like the narrative that holds mothers who abandon (for want of a better word) their children in far higher contempt than the millions of fathers who quite happily do the same thing, merrily avoiding CMS payments etc etc - we see it on here all the time, thread after thread every day of absent fathers not seeing their children enough and/or not paying maintenance, but it is so vanishingly rare for a woman to do it).

Anyway - same thing for crime. Women commit a very small proportion of crimes - I've just looked up the stats at the Ministry of Justice ,,, here they are ...

Makes me so furious.

Murdered a woman- but didn't pose a risk to women?!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 03/06/2019 11:22

I can't get over the resources that the MoJ are devoting to violating women's boundaries. They fund all these boards who manage to decide that a male torturer and murderer like this is appropriate to be in a female prison.
Is there no accountability? Who are these people? What type of / level of risk assessment do they carry out?
Regrettably one must assume that being trans and having no qualifications / knowledge of safeguarding and vulnerable women in prison is the criteria.

Oblomov19 · 03/06/2019 11:23
Hmm Beggars belief.
YouJustDoYou · 03/06/2019 11:26

As long as the needs of the transwoman are put before everything else, that's all that matters. (Sarcasm).

SarahTancredi · 03/06/2019 11:30

So where are these robust procedures then 🙄

It's that thing that never happens again, again and again isnt it.

I swear these people just think its fun. Shove a fox in the hen house and see what happens.

Probably a live feed camera somewhere like in a snuff movie

AncientLights · 03/06/2019 11:36

Serious question - how do you get to be on one of these boards that make these decisions? I'm sure some on here must be qualified for the job.

Michelleoftheresistance · 03/06/2019 11:41

I'm sure I remember from discussion over the previous cases where males have abused captive women while identifying into a women's prison, that the TG board has no member or agency representing the women in the prison and their best interests, and no impact assessments are involved.

It beggars belief. UNLESS you have been brainwashed into the mantra that to even acknowledge that women's rights and needs are affected by/not the same as the needs of males who identify as trans.

Which involves deliberately over looking a whole bunch of obvious issues such as

  • this is an offender who offends, violently, against women
  • this individual has a male body which immediately invades the privacy, dignity, bodily autonomy and social norms for the women who will be forced to share a shower naked in front of this person
  • this individual lacks a GRC and does not even have the legal fiction of being a woman, therefore the comparative class is other male violent women-focused offenders. Is it a normal, reasonable demand that women offenders accept showering naked in front of any male sex offender/violent woman-focused offender, or indeed any male at all? Or is this a massive violation of those women's rights and also discrimination against the massive majority of male offenders who might wish to shower with naked women?
  • this involves massively prioritising the needs, feelings, values and rights of a male individual over those of every female person in the prison. This is rank, staring sexism and misogyny, making males who identify as trans into a higher and more privileged class of humans entitled to treatment that biological women are bluntly denied.
  • this involves not only denying women equal treatment to males who identify as trans, but inflicting on them treatment that the prison service and no other public body would not dare to inflict on a male who identified as trans. Including refusing them the right to normal bodily privacy or freedom from intimidation, voyeurism, harassment, violence and sexual assault, refusing to acknowledge women's feelings of fear, humiliation and oppression while belittling them/insisting the women should shut up and cope; forcibly attempting to deny, silence and reframe women's experience and perceptions to fit the desired pattern.

This is wicked. This is appalling. Note please who has the power here and who doesn't? Who is heard and who isn't? Who is oppressed and who has agencies meeting to strong arm their way through rights of others and not permit the other party's needs to even be voiced ?

I have no further interest whatever in the wants and wishes and preferences of males who identify as trans, they have people falling over themselves to indulge them. I am interested in the women whose rights are being violated by public services who ought to be hung out to dry for this total abnegation of duty of care and sexist abuse of women.

Michelleoftheresistance · 03/06/2019 11:43

UNLESS you have been brainwashed into the mantra that to even acknowledge that women's rights and needs are affected by/not the same as the needs of males who identify as trans is transphobic*

Frankly it's fasting getting to the point where not being transphobic aligns you with so many horrific isms and behaviour towards others that you'd think anyone sane would be thinking twice.

HumberElla · 03/06/2019 11:44

What’s the bet that recruitment to these decision panels is entirely closed and secret?

Criteria for decisions will also be closely guarded, completely inappropriate or indeed non existent. Membership of the panel will not be made public and no one can make members accountable.

Yet lobbyists can magically create one of these panels at will. As long as it’s lobbying for one thing.

Well here's one of the people involved in the Scottish prison policy.

Bluestitch · 03/06/2019 11:54

This is a well respected, intelligent writer's response to the KW story. The worst thing about a male rapist being locked up with vulnerable women and assaulting them is publicising it apparently.

Murdered a woman- but didn't pose a risk to women?!
OP posts:
Michelleoftheresistance · 03/06/2019 11:58

Quite so, Blue

Sharing any negative news or anything that shows trans people in a negative light - regardless of how true, or how much in the public interest - is transphobic. The TRAs have been clear on that one for years. Hence the police visiting and phoning people for retweeting.

Goebbels would love this lot. Seriously. Either their ethics are totally out to lunch or they are fucking scary.

thirdfiddle · 03/06/2019 12:01

They lack courage of their convictions rather don't they. If a transwoman actually was a woman, surely the consequence should be the same as if a lesbian murderer (how many of those even are there in the prison system?) was found having sex with another woman. Just goes to demonstrate that in reality sex is the reason for segregating prisons not gender. So why do women have to be assaulted or exploited before it gets enforced.
