Bloody hate all this rainbow stuff; I adored my rainbow stitched dms in the 90s, now it would 'mean' something. I also love rainbows on kids, esp my second "rainbow" child.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:00

Not a hope. Schools should not be doing this.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:01

And when I was a kid Rainbow means Zippy, Bungle and Geoffrey.

youllhavehadyourtea · 31/05/2019 20:01

Rainbows to me always meant Greenpeace and Save the Whale.
But I'm old.

Awning10 · 31/05/2019 20:01

I'm sure they don't appreciate the implications of "sport for all"....

God yes, how could I forget that?

Sorry Jeff.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:02

And I stop at LGB thank you very much. The whole alphabet soup is very tiring...

youllhavehadyourtea · 31/05/2019 20:02

^ and Zippy too

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:02

Rod Jane and Freddy! And some poor little girl called Laura they showed doing a poo for some reason. Poor child.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/05/2019 20:03

Yes greenpeace back in the day. Clearly been very over written in my mind.

And cheer bear of course.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/05/2019 20:04

Jesus SPORT for all with rainbow laces.

That's really bloody sneaky.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:04

I remember drawing save the whales posters when I was at primary school. Y’know when kids protested about actual real stuff (climate change aside of course - but then we were yelling about that back then too!).

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:05

Is this a men in women’s sports thing? Sharon, Sharon? Where are you Sharon? Martina? Can we have a word please...?

Awning10 · 31/05/2019 20:11

Just did a google:

I’m too scared to click. I may have a stroke.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/05/2019 20:11

stops googling Rod Jane and Freddy love triangle

This is it:

www.stonewall.org.uk/about-us/media-centre/media-statement/sports-goes-rainbow-more-20-associations-join-stonewalls

Obviously as usual the LGB coming out in sport is incredibly important esp football, rugby etc. The T is problematic and rainbow washed.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/05/2019 20:12

Thankfully DSs sporks kit is pink anyway.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/05/2019 20:14

It was in November though?

cwg1 · 31/05/2019 20:17

Rainbow flag? International Co-operative Alliance, of course

Awning10 · 31/05/2019 20:19

It's new on Parent Pay so must be ongoing.

Lesbian, gay, bi and trans people can have negative perceptions and experiences of sport, whether it’s due to bullying in school sport, coming across anti-LGBT language on social media, down the pub or during live sports.

If people are being verbally abused for being gay or trans, then I fully support this message. However, I strongly suspect 'anti-LGBT language' is stuff like saying, males shouldn't compete with females. Like usual.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 01/06/2019 14:12

The research also found the British public want to see LGBT inclusion at all levels of sport. Nearly two-thirds (63 per cent) said local sports club should be welcoming of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people.

Also this^

I expect most places answered basically because..sexuality doesn't matter in sport. When you lump LGB and T in together, people cannot voice concerns about the T (and not even the T really. Iust basic fairness that near all agree with, given males are stronger and faster on average, hence seperate competitions.. Hmm ). Of course, there is no reason why a gay person should not participate in sport. There are however very valid reasons to be against men entering womens competitions.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/06/2019 14:14

It is normalising males in female sports categories. That is all.

Why not have laces to support para sports or blind football? For wheelchair tennis and murderball (sorry I forget the real sport but this is what the athletes call it), or the special olympics? To send sports equipment to kids who have absolutely nothing?
